I think everyone is willing to say that Marcus Cannon's resurgence has been the biggest surprise of the O-line this year. A significant number of people wanted Cannon gone and couldn't understand how Belichick spend $3M on a "back-up" OT.

"Well, I think Marcus showed a lot of mental toughness from the day he got here," Belichick said. "He came in, had to go through the cancer treatments and all of that. I mean honestly, it's hard for a rookie to come into the National Football League and just make the adjustment, period. Marcus came in with all that a rookie normally had plus his personal situation and the treatments and the checkups and so forth. I thought he handled that with great maturity, and so he's shown a lot of mental toughness."

I'm definitely in the camp of those who thought his ceiling was as a backup tackle or low end starter. Very glad to be wrong on that one.

One thing that hasn't changed is my immense respect for his drive to overcome his cancer and chase his dream of playing in the NFL. He's a great story no matter what anyone thinks of his ceiling.

Chris, don't understand your last sentence.

He's an All-Pro and the 2nd- best RT in the NFL. Hes the best ol on the Patriots. There's obviously not much higher he can go. How could anyone question his ceiling NOW?
