Sean Payton's not stupid, so Cooks is not entirely the picture painted in the article. Thing is, he's so young. Still learning. We'll have to see if he's willing to be a smaller wheel in the toughest machine in the NFL. All of a sudden he's playing for the greatest coach, the greatest QB, across from the greatest TE and and a terrific slot receiver. He's playing in the most complex offense driven by the quickest mind to ever throw a football.
So he'd better bring some humility to training camp. It sounds like he's got the drive, the intelligence and the talent. Could be great. I don't think he'll wash out for not understanding the playbook. And for him, this is an opportunity to learn to be a truly great receiver.
Get your popcorn ready!
(edit: and don't forget he's going up against Gilmore and Butler in practice. Butler in particular has one enormous chip on his shoulder specifically with Cooks. Popcorn, baby. Lots of it!)
