Umm, a bit more recent than "four or five years ago."

More like February 2004, in Houston, against Carolina. . . .

OK But even the great ones get one blocked once every few years - Gostkowski, every 4 attempts....Just one question to those who have kept close watch on this..In 3 games How many has he made so far (I believe its 2),How many blocked?(also 2)..How many attempted?(don't know,ANYONE KNOW?)

That would make him 50% on four attempts.

Adam Vinatieri went 1 for 3 v. the Panthers in the Super Bowl. That's 33%.

Small sample sizes aren't meaningful in making judgments like this.

Stephen Gostkowski

is a disappointment, for someone drafted in the 4th round.

This is a ridiculous, chicken little thread and I implore people to let it wither on the vine. Mikey, you are the poster-child for the chicken littles.

Re: Stephen Gostkowski

I will hold my judgment on this guy for now. The blocked kick from this game could partially be blamed on the grass so...

I just hope it's a physical aspect of the game rather than the mental part of the game for him. He could always improve his technique. If we have a few more blocked kicks by the time we head into the bye then I'd be concerned.

It's hard to make a field goal when the Pats special teams can't block anyone. Foxworth made a great play and dove in front of the kicker. The only time you should blame the kicker is when is misses it like Vanderjerk did against the Steelers in the playoffs. I will give him a pass.

OHHHHHHH, is that how we're doing it? Okay, cool - I guess that means that Doug Gabriel will catch 14 TD's this season! Cool!

You are being incredibly short-sighted and panicky. Give my regards to the other ladies in your pink-hat club.

Everyone just needs to calm down, it was 1 game vs a team who has typically beat us in the past, we obviously didn't play well and need to play better, but there is PLENTY of time to fix it.

There have been some ridiculous posts today but this has to take the cake.

Should we have cut Adam 2 years ago?

Help me out. How does this help us today? I'm really trying.

I forgot about you too..The OTHER brain surgeon on this board...Grow up dude and take opinions without leaving insults,or aren't you capable of that mentally? - If you don't like what I say,or post use ignore..its a wonderful thing

Viniatieri was a master at kicking on bad turf. He shortened his approach and aimed at just getting the ball over the crossbar, just punching the ball. Hopefully Gostkowski will learn to do the same. There is no need to swing wiith full force on bad turf.

What the hell are you doing here making intelligent constuctive posts.

Don't you know this is mindless rant day?

By the way, how many field goals did Vinatieri make today? :bricks:

Well, you are getting what you are giving. You're running your mouth with garbage that isn't supported, so you are getting garbage back. Also, I think that you are a liar because if you'd been following the Pats for 28 years, you'd know about Scott Sisson and Teddy Garcia, and Greg Davis.

Yes, Gostkowski's kick was low. However, as was pointed out, Foxworth got in there from the EDGE. When that happens, that is the fault of the line, not Gostkowski. Maybe you should listen to other people's opinions if you want to have yours given any credence.

This message board is for opinions...Whether one agrees or not is that persons right..To insult and call someone an idiot,or troll ect is out of line and childish..I don't agree with everyone here and voice that but refrain from insults unless antagonized - people that claimed we were going 16-0 should be locked up or sent to the lala ward but I never called them a moron ect:,just voiced my difference and that is what this board should be about..If you want to bash a person, bash a fan from another team who comes on here just to gloat if their team beats our team...I love our Patriots but criticize when they are bad and congrats when they play well, there is nothing wrong with that and people should be more respective to that on here

Folks should lay off the name calling.

But you can name-call on someone's opinion all you like (IMO).

IMO the silliest part of the original post was that he thinks we should have a guy who couldn't even play yesterday (Vinatieri not on active list for colts) instead of the guy we got who has had terrible kick blocking in front of him so far.

I think the verdict needs to be held on Gost as a long term fix until we get a better/longer perspective; but he isnt having extra points blocked; so it seems like it is not all on him.

The guy's been in 3 games in his career. Give him a chance.

And what do you expect him to do, fool? Kick it over the the defender who was ABLE to come unblocked off the edge and leap in front of the kick?

I suggest you try drinking a few less next game before coming in here.
