Gosslin Mock draft 4/18

this might be the worst mock i have seen to date. no chad jackson in rd 1? and mario dropping to #4? no way.

These people just don't get it! THE PATS WILL NOT TAKE BOBBY CARPENTER WITH THE #21 SELECTION. Why? Because that is what everyone is predicting. Just when you think you know, you have know idea.

I'm not much of a college guy, I saw maybe a DE who is active but 'too small' for the NFL and make him an OLB. OLB' s are the type of big, fast guys that are hard to find.

wouldnt the jets grab 1 of 3 big name QB's? Do the jets even have a QB at the moment?

This mock really is not so out of line with my own expectations. My only criticism is that there are oto many CBs in the first. Jonathan Joseph as a mid-first pick? Good God.

I think it's pretty clear that round about pick #28 or #29 most mock draft have teams reaching for a random player that everyone else has going in the 2nd. Yobouti, Chester, Allen, Addai... not that these are bad players, but they are on par with Kiwanuka, Howard, Simpson and a ton of other equally legit candidates.

The big shocker for me is John McCargo to Tampa at #23. WTF? How is that not a reach?

Greenway to Minnesota at #17, and Carpenter to the Pats at #21 seems perfectly reasonable to me. The tug of war in Dallas between Parcells and Jones will be the touchpoint at #18... that's the point where I'm really concerned that we lose Carpenter.

Lawson - Greenway - Carpenter... that's the trifecta for me in the first round. Not unrealistically, they go to Denver, Miami and Dallas, leaving us to pick among the talented remains of the LB class. My next choice would be Kiwanuka... or Wimbley. Of, if we wait till far later, McGarigle and Cogong seem like good mid-round prospects-- upside, but far more bust potential too.

The fact that Chad Johnson is not drafted in the first is a sign of good judgement to me. Chad is the prototype of an overhyped prospect, whose reputation is build off one good season and a great Combine. Personally, I wouldn't draft him before he 3rd. I know some fool GM is going to shoot his load a bit too early on Chad, and they'll release him three years later with as little fanfare and media attention as possible.

Gosslin is amongst the most accurate at doing mock drafts. Better than Mel Kiper and the huddle report, generally speaking.

Chad is overrated and Mario can easily fall to #4.

That's just absurd. Many people here have accurately predicted the Pats first round picks of the last few years. Just because YOU haven't, doesn't mean nobody can.

That mock though is very flawed - it has New Orleans taking Matt Leinart. That won't happen since they signed Drew Brees. It looks like a mock that may have been realistic over a month ago before the Brees signing. Rick Gosselin needs to update it. Not having CHad Jackson in round 1 is also absurd.

The Pats may not take Carpenter - but it's very likely that they take an OLB in round 1. There are many round 1 caliber OLBs in this draft, who are ranked fairly closely together. That, and the large number of teams that will be looking at OLB in the second half of round 1 makes it rather difficult to say exactly who the Pats will end up with. Carpenter, Greenway, Lawson, Ryans, and a few others are all possibilities. But, most likely they will draft one of them.

That's true. A bunch of people on this board predicted the Ben Watson and Wilfork picks. But what's even more to the point is that almost every writer with a pulse predicted the Pats would draft Ty Warren 3 years ago, even when a bunch of people on this board were arguing "BB doesn't draft DTs in the first round".

I think everybody and their uncle knew that if Wilfork was there at 21 a couple years ago, we'd take him.

Cripe, you are on the main board saying the same stuff, on several different threads.

Did Carpenter reject you at a bar or something?

Plus Seymour and Warren were obvious at the time, even to me. When the picks were announced I FULLY expected both and they were at the top of my "likely" list pre-draft. Watson and Mankins surprised me. Completely. Graham, I was 50-50 on with LB Napolean Harris. Now, the second round picks - they are the ones were I just shake my head. Deion Branch in the second round - the horror
