Pretty cool video - JE google glass of JE catching punts.

Julian Edelman Wears Google Glass While Fielding Punts, Gives Inside Look Into Return Skills (Video) | New England Patriots | NESN.com

Would have been better if more than just 2 punts recorded and if JE had provided some more commentary about what he is looking for in judging ball (spin, angle, trajectory etc) as well as how he views the coverage (is it just peripheral vision or does he sneak peeks while ball in flight)

Also, anybody know what exactly "the punter's off-set" means? (is it just left-right of the center-ball spot or left-right of field hash-marks or somethng else)

lol kind of crappy video, but good enough for a boring wednesday

I wish they'd have showed you him dodging tackles from his perspective, that would be pretty cool.

These could easily be inserted on helmets for a fantastic viewing experience during games.

BUT, the NFL would probably be afraid to lose fannies in the seats if that ever happened. Maybe Jerry Jones has the right idea, provide game coverage on a giant screen for people at the ballpark.

Cool concept, but would have been cooler to see more from Julian's perspective.

While this is cool, I totally understand why Edelman doesn't talk more about what he's looking for when he's catching punts. After all, he's the best in the game at that particular skill—why give up any competitive advantage when you don't need to?

It sounds good in theory, but doesn't work good in reality.

The camera and helmet shake so much it's not an enjoyable viewing experience at all.

Exactly, the camera doesn't adjust its focus and maintain equilibrium the way the eyes do when moving about. I'd wager that most people might get motion sickness watching that during an NFL game.

From watching it, I'm quite surprised just how high punts go from the returners view - that's some serious height Ryan Allen is getting.

Did you see the wobbly throw at about 1:06? I think I heard that Brady said JE can't throw a football.

I would hope that would finally put the nail in the coffin of the 5-6 posters who keep coming up w/ the 'JE as an emergency QB' theory (simply an IDIOTIC idea BTW).

But of course 'hope springs eternal' with some folks and reality means nothing.

So we're calling an underhand toss a pass now? I'm not exactly dying to see Edelman as a passer, but that wasn't even close to what you'd call an attempt at a pass!

I guess I didn't see that it was underhand.

On him being an emergency QB, I guess if Brady and Mallet both freakishly went down in the same game he probably would be the most qualified on the roster.

Who else? Maybe Dan Connolly? Gronk? Leon Washington? It probably wouldn't matter at that point.
