Wide receiver David Patten owns three Super Rings, all won with the New England Patriots, and is now vying for a roster spot with the New Orleans Saints.

If early practices are any indication, he'll win one. Patten was one of the most impressive performers at any position in Friday and Saturday drills.
"He's going to contribute and compete," Saints coach Sean Payton said of Patten, who turned 33 last week and will be in his 11th NFL season.
Patten is by far the most experienced of an extremely young group of wide receivers. He is the only one of the 11 in camp who has more than three years of pro football experience.

Patten has played in only 14 games over the past two seasons with the Washington Redskins, but he has shown little rust thus far. Asked after Saturday afternoon's practice if he thought he still has what it takes to help the Saints, he replied, "Without a doubt."
Let's hope the Redskins' bad karma has washed off.

I agree..good luck to him in NO!!!

He should be a nice third or fourth receiver catching balls from Brees. That is a good situation for him to be in.

He got hurt early on in DC and they consistently come up short at the most important position on the roster if you are a WR or you honestly want to win - QB. Hard to mentor guys being targeted by the JAG QB of the month.

If he can stay healthy he should do really well with Brees. I think Payton's biggest concern this season is a "we've arrived" let down after making it to the NFCC last season. So he needs some hungry old cagy vets who see an opportunity to capitalize on that as opposed to resting on laurels to help him and Brees push them to the next level.

I agree. Good Luck to David; he, and JRRedmond, and Wiggy were huge in the 2001 POs. They'll never be forgotten.

We'll probably see him in the SB. Only this time, he loses.

Yes -- good luck to him all the way through the NFC Championship game!

nice update...Patten was great for us he had a knack for big plays, some nice deep balls, fallling on balls unconcious and everyones favorite his grab in the back of the end zone at the end of the first half of sb36.

I hope he catches on and from what I know about patten if he is healthy he will fit into the saints offensive scheme very well. Good Luck Patten and see you in the SB..

Brees loves the wizened wide receivers. Keenan McCardell was his bestest buddy in San Diego.

Interesting that the Saints didn't try and get McCardell before he signed with the Texans...
