[Garofalo] Maye getting paid quickly

That is the part that never made sense in the entire deal. Why there? Has to be something other than money right? I mean if he was that cheap he would fly commercial for example.

Got to be something else.
Fresh off the boat foreign cheap handies maybe?

Kraft will forever be cheap to me because he wrecked his reputation by going to the Orchid Spa so he could shell out just $20 for a tug job rather than stay in his hotel room and get serviced by a $1k escort.

This is 100% true. Kraft was shopping at the cheap strip mall because he is super cheap. Having said that, an escort in FL has to be much less than $1k. It was not a matter of reputation, Kraft is inherently a cheap person.

If you factor in the eventual legal fees, Kraft paid over a $1M per hand job at a strip mall. Very dumb decision. People who think Kraft makes great decisions are delusional. The man takes risks and got lucky with the Pats. Taking the risk was key. Getting a hand job at a strip mall is being cheap AND stupid.

Kraft thought no one would ever know, so he showed his true colors. His own plane, fancy car and fancy condo are to be showy. Status, prestige. But when someone believes no one will be the wiser, a cheap bastard is off to the strip mall.

But the memory remains

This was in my line of thinking: That if he still has NC residency until TC officially starts or gets a MA house-apartment; then the team is maybe doing him a solid and he is saving X % on taxes (X= MA income tax - NC tax)

As others said; when you start talking 7-digit numbers; you are already at the max tax rate whether 1 mil or 20 mil.
As I understand it, I think that MA will tax the part of his income earned in MA, at their non-resident rate. The bonus will be part of a personal services contract providing his services to a MA franchise so it will be earned in MA. If he has NC residency and earns income in NC that income will not be taxed by MA.

Incidentally, way back when I first took a job in MA my first year I ended up deciding to use the MA non-resident/part-year resident tax forms. They were a mess, complicated and confusing, where the resident forms were simple: if you made x give us y % of x. But the complicated computation saved me money so it was worth it.

One area that might benefit Maye using NC as his domicile for tax purposes would be endorsements and income from off the field activities. That’s an area where a good team of tax lawyers and accountants will be tremendously beneficial. They’ll take their cut, and they’ll earn it by minimizing the tax man’s cut and leaving Maye a bigger part of the checks in his bank account.
