Greetings from the ostensible moderator of this draft board. I thought I should drop in the off chance that my absence has been noted.

I usually spend March obsessively re-watching clips and poring over stats. This year, though, I have a book manuscript coming due that requires every single second I can give it (and then some, gulp). So I decided I had no choice but to sit out this draft.

I knew that the only way I could do it was cold turkey -- not even letting myself get acquainted with the draft class. It felt very strange indeed to release that the Combine had come and gone without me noticing. *sniff.*

I hope to resurface once the book is safely in my editor's hands. Please be kind if I pop up during training camp with a clueless "who ARE all of these guys, anyway?"

Thanks,
patchick

Well, you certainly are missed but it's probably for the best. Good luck with the book!

Thank you for all your help, best of luck with the project.

And just like that , she walks out of my life, leaving me alone with the hungry wolves.

Just take a break from work, check in once in a while, even if it's an old Conner Barwin is awesome post.:rocker:

Good luck with the manuscript.

Also, you'll be missed.

We will miss you! You've always been one of my favorite posters.

May I ask about your manuscript? Fiction/non-fiction? Basic premise? I started off as an English major, and I still write quite seriously when I'm not indulging in my draft habit. I would be more than happy to offer critique if you need any advance readers.

Best of luck, and keep writing!

LOL! Can I plead football vocabulitis?

Non-fiction -- I have a particular subject of expertise that I'm known for. This project is actually a big revision/expansion of my main book. (But I would love to try my hand at YA fiction someday, once that domain moves past its total fixation on vampire/werewolf romance. Somehow I just don't care about the undead. Is that wrong?)

Best of luck, and keep writing!

Thanks!

Good luck i now how time consuming it can be after watching my wife go through it for a year and a half. Not fun.

Good Luck. We look forward to reading more from you when you have the time; but before you go,
could you give us your opinion on Derek Wolfe & Jake Bequette?

You're not missing much anyway. I haven't been so unexcited about a draft since 2005. God that was a crappy year. 2009 was pretty bad too I guess.

Well at least you won't be as frustrated after doing all that research when you find out that, not only did they pass up all your binkies, but they traded down and out of both first round picks so they could select a TE, QB and swing tackle in the second round. All of whom were projected first round picks that fell to the second because of injury concerns.

2007 was worse than either 2005 or 2009.. 2009 was actually pretty exciting since the Pats had the three 2nd round picks..

Good luck Patchick. I am having a hard time getting amped up for this draft. Last year seemed far more exciting. I think FA maybe more exciting than this draft.

Thanks for the notice. Maybe we can find out where box of rocks has been hiding?

Look forward to seeing at least your delayed assessment of the draft.
