I'm dead serious. Anyone who's done even a few hours of research on the issue of "climate change" should come to the conclusion that proponents of the AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) or MMGW (Man Made Global Warming) theory have NOT adequately backed up their claims.

Before I'd lend my name to any foundation supporting legislation to combat "climate change" I'd like data that would confirm that the RATE of change in the Earth's climate is UNPRECEDENTED, the planet's climate has been changing throughout it's history so just saying that there is "climate change" actually doesn't mean very much.

Next, I would like to see the RAW DATA with the footnoted methodology that the CRU, GISS, and GHCN are using to base their conclusions on but no, this info is not available to the general public. If thousands of independent climate scientists had access to that data and all independently arrived at more or less the same conclusions you would have something, that would be real science, not the half-truths and junk-science people like Al Gore and other AGW proponents spew, and it's most unfortunate that Tom Brady is now in this category.

So, if one is going to advocate for a foundation that supports the AGW theory I think you had damn well do your homework before doing so. I guarantee Brady didn't do his homework on this, it sounds nice and it's what trendy celebrity types do even though the proposed legislation to combat supposed "climate change" would mean taxes so high that our economy would be on par with Mexico's and laws so onerous that almost no part of your life would not be regulated by the government, including whether you'd be legally allowed to have children.

Ever see Rocky 3? Remember when Mickey said that Rocky had fallen victim to the absolute worst thing that could happen to a fighter: he became civilized. It's pretty clear that his focus is more about being a celebrity than about being the best QB ever. I wish he'd do some thorough thinking and decide what he wants, if it's to be a celebrity then he should move to LA and do it, if he wants to be a football player then he should stop this stupid nonsense and start working his tail off to become TFB again. I guarantee you that Tebow is willing to work like there's no tomorrow to be the best he can be.

Ok, I know many on this board will want to stone me for writing this but so be it, rant mode off.

You fell for the oil lobby's games.

Good lord, maybe he didn't spend 60 hours vetting the information because, you know....he's a football player and probably better spends that time practicing and conditioning?

I'll take Tom f'n Brady any day of the week.

If he's not willing to do the research on an issue he shouldn't be taking sides on it.

u know wuts funny? ur right, they really havnt backed up their claims, but neither have those who are against climate change and global warming.....and if we have to choose one, i had much rather go the safer route

One wonders, if they haven't backed it up, why GWB declared that warming is caused by greenhouse gases. There are only a few holdouts left, and they all take oil money.

And here Canada, the Russians and the US are arming now that the Arctic is free for navigation for summer months, for the first time in recorded history.

You fell for the oil lobby's games.

Ok, provide me the raw data the AGW proponents are basing their conclusions on and we'll see if the data produces similar conclusions from multiple and independent sources.

Pretty sure this isn't a science forum or politics forum. If you absolutely insist on launching into idiotic rants, at least do it in the right place. And if you really do want to bet money on why he agreed to do the PSA, just stick with "because his wife told him to."

And in case you missed it: yes, I'm calling you an idiot. Your opinion on whether or not he's become too 'civilized' manages to be pointless, arrogant, absurd, AND stupid. It would almost be impressive, if it wasn't so pathetic.

Please tell me which of my points is unsupported, your just pissed I'm talking legitimate smack about your hero, whose the idiot now?

1 - Please point out ANY incorrect point I made about why AGW/MMGW is bull****. If you cannot then do NOT assert that I don't know what I'm talking about.

2- Ask yourself "why" he's doing it in the first place? It's to be a trendy celebrity because that's what's important to him now.

3 - Brady has the greatest desire to win? When was the last time he won the parking spot that goes to the guy who puts the most time in?

OK

Global Temperature
Sea Level
Ice Sheet
Sea Ice Area
Emissions

Now, what do you think of Antarctic and Arctic ice melting? How do you explain that away?

There are all kinds of raw data out there. For example, if you check out the ice core laboratory

National Ice Core Laboratory - Processes: Extraction, Transportation, Storage, Processing Ice Cores

where they store ice cores that have been drilled out, and where you can see, clearly the stratas representing layers and layers of eons, millenia, and centuries that have passed on this planet. The measurement of carbon parts per frozen atom has flunctuated throughout the milleniums as you can imagine, corresponding with the various ice ages and temperature shifts- but only in the past 200 years (as compared to millions and millions of years) has the carbon level multiplied to such an extent that it has become an anomaly when depicted on a chart.. that is, it skews the median of the data.. much as if you were to put an 100 year old teacher in a kindergarten class, and then took the age of everyone and tried to average it out- it would still not make sense.

But let me ask you this- even if Global Warming was fiction, (let's assume that) you still have to consider that the current mode of fueling, by fossil means, makes absolutely no economic sense, because for the most part (and a very large part) it comes from a very unstable region that is halfway around the globe, and mostly from the same country that has supplied the most terrorists. If you are going to tell me that all the money we pour into that country, Saudi Arabia, for all that oil, not one terrorist gets a cent of that, I have beachfront property in Arizona to sell you.

Moreover, this is a means that is very fragile and has the potential to stop this country dead in its tracks, as the 1973 oil crisis demonstrated so clearly (it brought this country down to its knees) when the Arab countries imposed an oil embargo on the US for supplying the Israeli military during the Yom Kippur war.

Now if we were to turn to alternate sources of energy, we would not be exporting so much cash (for oil), but instead be investing it right in our own country, and instead of having such a centralized (and monopolized) source for all of our energy, we would all be much more independent. Imagine solar power on just 50% of the roofs in America, a smart house, and a green house at that- you would say goodbye to power outages, brownouts, blackouts, or utility bills.

It is not just the climate repercussions, but so many other areas, economy, health, science, and innovation that are being affected by this.

Oil was once good. It helped us win the second world war, but we have now severely outgrown it.

And as for Tom Brady- he has won 3 out of 4 superbowls and will win at least one more before he is done. He has deserved the right to do as he pleases. You are correct in saying Tebow is working his tail off as if there is no tomorrow, and that's because he is unproven.

Ok, provide me the raw data the AGW proponents are basing their conclusions on and we'll see if the data produces similar conclusions from multiple and independent sources.

I'll say it again. Under the previous administration, the last holdouts were briefed by NASA, and came to the same conclusions. NASA physicists said their studies were irrefutable.

Both American political parties are believers. So this isn't even a political issue anymore. The science is overwhelming. Cherrypicking a bad model here or there out of all the studies going on doesn't disprove anything.

If he's not willing to do the research on an issue he shouldn't be taking sides on it.

Everyone does it on at least a handful of issues. People do it all the time.

Giselle said to light a candle .... well ...

Candles are 10 times worse for the environment than light bulbs | Yahoo! Green

It's actually far more efficient than any other light source from Edison's day. A 40-watt light bulb produces about as much light as 40 candles. If you burned 500 candles instead of using a 40-watt light bulb, you would be burning several gallons of paraffin (refined from crude oil) per day, resulting in about 10 times more CO2 emissions.

Of course, we don't burn 40 candles. We burn one or two or three. So, yes, paraffin candles are not a significant polluter. When I switch off my lights this Earth Hour, and light my candles, I will be replacing one 12-watt CFL with three candles. The result, honestly, will be about neutral. The candles will produce a little bit more CO2 than would be produced by the CFL

Parrafin is cheap candlewax.. you don't buy that unless you shop at the dollar store. Good candles such as those sold at Yankee Candle contain no parrafin, and are instead beeswax, soy, or polyethylene wax.

I hear that him taking the time out of his life to make a 30 second commercial, that he was probably *****ed into doing by Gisele means we should run him out of town.

I hope the Texans, Chargers and Packers run their respective players out of town for doing those damn 60 minutes of playtime commercials that fight childhood obesity.

Football players have been doing endorsements for TONS of things for a long time, and we only have a problem because we were 10-6 this year. Calm down some of you.

1. Brady has lost his drive for football, gotta start thinking Tebow. Turning off the lights for one hour at night? Are you kidding me? He should be spending that one hour watching film how to beat the Colts and make Sam Aiken an NFL player.

2. A 60 million dollar contract gets you a kitchen without lights, 8 foot ceilings, chicken wings, cabbage, and an Evian water bottle. LOOOOOL

Please stop it with all this GloBULL Warming garbage~! The biggest scam the world has ever seen.

The posting of this video is now declaring a 3x Superbowl winning quarterback a washup, and we need Tebow.

I need something to drink after this.

How does one prove a negative? The people making the claim have the burden of proof.

If someone claims that civilization will essentially come to an end unless we take radical steps and fundamentally alter our way of life to avoid "climate change" would you just go ahead and not demand evidence?

Again, the people making the claim have the burden of proof, if they cannot prove it then they have no business trying to essentially send the planet back to the stone age.

If you want a safer and cleaner environment I'm with you on that, why don't we spend our efforts on things that will actually make the environment safer and cleaner as opposed to something which will have horrible effects and not make the planet better.

ur right they do have the burdern of proof, however what they are advocating makes logical sense....the environment is made up in one way, and so far its worked, now with polution its starting to look a whole different way

this difference is causing great changes on the planet, sure they might not be bad after all, but what are the chances of that? the environment was balanced before, now its becoming more and more imbalanced with what we introduce to it.......u dont even need actual data, u just need to understand that change is occuring, and that this change is more than likely for the worse

its logical, finalized proof would be nice, but by no means necessary for us to try and bring balance back

I agree, we need to run the ball more effectively.

I wonder what the pair's carbon footprint is? Turn off your lights, Tom...save the world.
