The Dolphins have exposed weaknesses in the coverage ability of the Patriots’ linebackers. Word out of Foxborough is that as instinctive as they are, the ’backers have difficulty playing the pass if they’re reading run first. The most athletic linebacker they have, rookie ILB Jerod Mayo, has been caught out of position too often, even though he’s racked up a lot of tackles.

The Way We Hear It - NFL pro football rumors and insider news from Pro Football Weekly

If this is true, the positive is that Mayo's problems are correctable with experience. Many rookies have problems like this off the bat.

What groupd of LBs wouldn't have trouble playing the pass if they read run first?

I do agree that they may be overblowing that part of the problem, but many LBs can make the adjustment quickly to drop back into coverage. Mayo will learn.

Adalius is not considered our most athletic back right now?

Must be the money weighing him down.

Cheap shot? Adalius is listed at 270lbs and looks even bigger. Should he be able to run like a 215lb running back?

Should he? No.

Can he? Oh yes. . . .

If Belichick did not think Mayo was the man, Seau would have already been here.
