"Eighth circuit grants the NFL's request for an expedited hearing. Will hear the appeal starting June 3 in St. Louis."

but.....

"Folks ... This setting of dates does NOT mean the stay-on-appeal is going one way or another. We're still waiting on that one."

"So the stay could conceivably still be denied, and that would allow league year to begin, w/NFL looking to shut doors again w/the appeal."

Per Albert Breer via twitter

Hey -- Breer got it exactly right. Unusual.

Briefing to be completed by late may, and oral argument on June 3. They took the unusual step of giving each side 30 minutes, which is 10 minutes longer than usual. The decision could come any time after that -- a day or a month. And no word on the stay pending appeal. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about that in the next day or so. They also could, effectively, grant it by doing nothing since the little stay remains in effect.

Edit -- One other bit of news. The judges who decided the "little" stay will be the same judges who decide the case. My money is that we'll get a permanent stay pending appeal some time in the next few days, 2-1 with a dissent.
