I think that, by the time Edelman retires, he will be known as the greatest playoff WR in NFL history. He already might have a strong case for it up there with Rice and Fitzgerald.

A bit premature, no?

I doubt he ever passes Rice in the court of public opinion. But he'll go down as better than Fitzgerald in the postseason. I don't think you can be too high on the list of postseason performers without a chip.

2 superbowls, multiple playoff showings, a highlight reel catch that will last forever.

Nope. Jules will live on for all eternity with some of his catch highlights.

And #3 all-time in playoff receptions.

Double pass vs Ravens, GW catch vs Seattle and one of the greatest catches in SB history - they will be showing Edelman highlights long after he is retired.

He does great and is virtually match up proof. Almost no CB can take away everything he does by himself. Also he never dropped a key catch late. Can't over state that.

Outside of New England where he's been an all time great Patriot and a great Super Bowl catch Julian Edelman has no real legacy in the history of football.

He has 1300 yards less than TY Hilton in the regular season.

You need to separate great Patriot from great NFL player.

A lot of people will disagree but it's a fact, to everyone who's not a Patriots fan he's just another short white guy who's a product of Brady.

Compiling playoffs stats of Edelman is irrelevant in most NFL fans eyes since most people would say his stats are based on the fact he ended up in New England and has Tom Brady throwing him the ball.

If stats are all that mattered, maybe, but players know. Edelman's legacy is that he is a great football player. Look at White's first TD run - one of the best interior blocks was by Edelman who took out a LB. On the lateral to White on the last drive, JE sealed off his man downfield. He is the ultimate "Swiss army knife".

What do you think of Mike Wallace place in NFL history?

He's pretty irrelevant right? He has 2,500 more yards and 14 more TDs than Jules, both been in the league since 2009.

Stats are all the matters as to how WR are remembered historically by people who aren't fans of the players team.

You are compared to your peers statistically.

Read the post again. He said PLAYOFFS and yes he will absolutely have a legacy as a great playoff receiver.

He is another great playoff or 2 playoffs away from passing Irvin as #2 in receiving yards Irvin is at 1,315 yards, Edelman is at 1,024. He is 4 receptions from being #2 in post-season receptions.

He might not be the greatest but he'll probably be #2 when his career is over,

In New England and amongst Patriots fans he will have that legacy, outside of New England and among the media and fans of other NFL teams he was just another short white guy who Brady threw the ball to, just another Welker, another system guy who can be easily replaced.

Ten years from now...

To the casual NFL fan, he'll be remembered for his catch, much like Tyree. Replays during playoff games when other crazy catches happen will keep that memory alive.

To the more serious fans of other teams, he'll be remembered as Brady's gritty, short slot receiver. He'll get confused with Welker. Other fans simply don't care enough to bother with the distinction, especially years from now.

He'll still be fondly remembered by Pats fans.

Regards,
Chris

holy **** when did mike wallace catch 14 post season touchdowns?

Actually when was the last time mike wallace was in the playoffs?

Everyone remembers David Tyree and he truly did suck.
