Patriots Injury News Dugger played with misdiagnosed high ankle sprain this season

The man who should be called to answer questions is long-time trainer Jim Whalen.

Hes been here since 2002 and this is the first time i've heard a player come out and say their injury was misdiagnosed.

I suspect it's not him we should be pointing fingers at....
To be fair, if there is swelling present during imaging it can hide things like a hairline fracture, avulsion fracture and several other conditions. Isn't Whalen the one that caught Barmores blood clots?

in that timeframe, what are the results in terms of games and snaps lost and how it compares to league averages, etc.? I had a perception that under BB the Pats are generally conservative about bringing guys back. I didn’t notice much of a difference last season but with the Peppers situation maybe they brought back Duggar sooner than they otherwise would. Certainly also I wonder about how Barmore’s case was handled.
Not sure. Every team has injuries. I don't know how we compared.

Barmore's case is an unknown. Andrews also had blood clots and he sat the entire year. Not sure how similar/different ?

Deron is gone. Vrabel hired his guy from Tenn. The rest of the strength staff stays though.
Oh yea thats right. I have to assume Deron will not stay on as an assistant.

I’m giving all of them a pass on this season. I’ll judge them next season with a real NFL coaching staff.

Agree but in that circumstance they wait for the swelling to go down or do an x-ray.

Not sure. What I do know is Whalen has been here forever and his rep is impeccable.

Either he or his team f-ed up or he was overruled.

Never been a big fan of his. Awful contract. Let’s move on and acquire better talent.

Wouldn't the actual doctor be responsible for that diagnosis and not strength and trainer guys?

Correct.

My point is Whalen knows what/why Duggar was misdiagnosed.

I agree, to blame Mayo for everything that went wrong with this team is erroneous, remember Coach Belichick said many times that he was not a doctor and would listen to what the doctor said.
Deron was not a doctor either.. so I suspect that the decision for him to play fell to someone with a medical degree.
If not, then the Pats would face huge liability if they made that decision.

Duggar is better than he was last year..

That and Barmore coming back prematurely are just more reasons why Mayo got canned.

Alright so add him to the list of things we need for a better 2025 defense
1) Barmore, Bentley, Dugger, and M. Jones to be healthy.

2) Draft Abdul Carter

3) Find a true FS

4) Peppers keeps his nose clean

5) Sign a true #2 CB

You're not thinking big enough given the amount of cap space we have.
