pull a late move to get Turner from the Chargers?

Offer up the 28th pick for Turner and the Chargers 2nd rounder... While the Chargers are holding out hope for a 1st round pick, I wouldn't mind seeing the Pats add Turner. I think that he and Maroney would make an amazing 1-2 punch.

Yeah, Turner would be a great addition for the Pats running game.
But I'd rather see them use the picks for defense, ILB and DB.
I have no idea what will actually happen, though.
But I am looking forward to the weekend.

Turner wants to leave so he can be the #1 back. I don't know why he'd want to come here - I also can't imagine we could get Turner AND the Chargers' 2nd rounder. Maybe their 3rd rounder. In either case, I think it's beyond doubtful.

I'd do the deal if we got Tomlinson instead of Turner

Laurence Maroney?

Unless Maroney is injured and can't go this season, I don't see the Pats using two first round picks on two RBs. I could be wrong, but I just don't see it. especially since Turner is still relatively unproven in the league.

They want a #1, so you'll offer them a #1 in exchange for their #2...that's about the worth of a high 3rd round pick. So how or why do they do that trade?

Maybe they'll throw in Tomlinson too? Talk about clueless.

I'd rather just draft a RB with a mid rounder. Maroney is the man, so I don't see the sense in spending a high pick on a player who has only been a back up in this league but probably wants to be paid like a starter.

Don't you guys think Turner is good enough to be a feature back? I would think that he is on par with a late first round pick. Why would San Diego give you anything else? Am I crazy?

Turner doesn't seem like a "change of pace" back that would contrast Maroney's style too much. It just seems like it would be 2 guys with similar styles, sharing carries.

I would have much rather seen if we could have gotten Lance Briggs from Chicago for the 24th pick.

I really don't see this every happening.....Draft a RB for the furture Kevin....

Let me defend DaBruinz(not that he needs it). SD is asking for a first round pick for a back up running back, which is way more than market value and more than they know they will get. The Pats #28 pick is worth 660 value points (according to ESPN's chart) the Chargers second rd pick (#62) is worth 284 points. The 376 point disparity is worth a second rd pick (#53) which is probably what SD will get if a trade is worked out. So DaBruinz's premise is not "clueless" at all. If there is somebody on this board that thinks it will take a first round pick to extract Turner from SD, they are the "clueless" one.

Nice thread title, very informative and descriptive about the topic.

I don't think the Chargers would be dumb enough to trade Turner to a rival like the Pats. That is unless we make them an offer they cant refuse and since we're pretty solid at RB I don't see that happening.

Michael Turner is a very capable back. 6.3 YPC, nothing to indicate he can't handle the workload. That said, he's not worthy (IMO) of a top 15-20 pick, but certainly worth a look for a late first rounder, if RB is a teams #1 need.

I like Turner, not sure of what kind of contract he would be looking for. But on paper it would be a nice 1-2 punch.
