I have often come here to eat crow (or have it force fed to me) for my comments over the years on Ian's pages, so this morning, I want to yelp a bit!

Over the past few seasons, I have speculated how we might look with Laurence Maroney in a reduced role and Ben Jarvus Green Ellis in the full-time role.

I have taken much verbal abuse over this position.

But, this morning, two games into the BJGE opportunity with the unfortunate injury to Fred Taylor and with Maroney failing in a brand new place (Denver) and BJGE hitting holes like a real running back and giving us a real option behind the QB, we can finally say as Pats fans, we have our every down back.

And we should be ecstatic about that! It has been a long time coming! Somewhere Corey Dillon and Antowain Smith and John Stephens and Andy Johnson and Sam Cunningham and Tony Collins are smiling!

Looking forward to the rest of this season with a young defense that is maturing week by week and a featured back, and of course, the greatest QB to ever play this game!

And thank you God for Danny Woodhead! I love that little ba$ t ard!

I do like the combo of back and when Taylor comes back in a couple of weeks its only going to be better

So glad for BJGE. He's a quiet guy (or maybe he's not allowed to speak ) who is always running forward! Even when the play is no good, he doesn't get dropped for a 4 yd. loss. (kinda) slow and steady wins the race (and the starting RB job!).

Bronco fans are already complaining about Koolaid.

BB saw the Broncos coming in this trade.

Maroney - Broncos Forums

wow...

dudes got some moves!

Everytime he gets the ball he explodes to the line of scrimmage and then someone must throw some cardboard on the field and starts playing some Run DMC, because he just stops there and starts bustin' a move!

It's just so frustrating to watch...

I hope his lack of confidence and mobility is just a problem with his hip, because he has absolutely no speed at all.

As much as I love having a great running game and BJGE has been giving us a good one I am not ready to say yes we do have a everydown back at the end of 07 and through the post season maroney looked like he was going to be the 2 down back with Faulk as the 3rd down guy the next 2 years he only showed that in the titans game last yard in the snow. Asked the question again after week 17 an we will know better if we friend do or not.

ROTFLMAO! Thanks for posting that Triumph!

That is one of the funniest comments about a player I have heard in a long time! And so true about SloMo!

Wait until (if he ever) scores a TD in Denver and they see his "Waving My Hand in Front of My Face Because I Am Invisible To The Defense" celebration move!

To repeat something I said in the game thread:

Watching BJGE and Woodhead run last night, after so many years of watching LoMo, reminded me of the feeling I had the first time I saw Brady sidestep a pass rush after so many years of Bledsoe. It was like, "Oh, that's how it's done."

I always had high hopes for Maroney -- just as I had a lot of hope invested in Bledsoe -- but it's amazing the difference when someone comes in and does it right.

And for the wise guys: No, I'm not saying these RBs are the running equivalent of Brady.

He of many names is a vast improvement over florence the tiny dancer.

Danny Woodhead (great porn name) looked like Mack Herron, slipping under the tacklers who couldn't get low enough to hit him. Even on that TD, he got low and went under the tackler on the line (which wasn't a TD, btw).

BJGE is a great downhill runner. Love the way he attacks the line and much easier to watch than LoMo. Run blocking was pretty good too.

I love how lawfirm hits the line, no side stepping, just head down, shoulder down, lets get it done. Speed is nice, but I'll take drive and desire any day of the week.

I don't think you will find too many eating crow. they are too busy stating that it is the improved line play, rather than BJGE's running style and hard work, that has led to an improved running game.

If only Maroney had stuck around long enough to benefit from this great line (minus a pro bowl guard) :bricks:

Meanwhile, the Denver offensive line has struggled to produce holes for the past two games. Coincidence?

Like I said in the other thread, I hope his smaller frame can handle the 16-20 carries a game. I have no issues with him being our primary back, he has been running great when given the opportunity.

LOL! It is a great porn name! And to think his one-time owner (Jets) was named Woody Johnson. "A Woody Johnson production starring Danny Woodhead..."

Speaking of that, is anybody really missing Logan Mankins now? I mean, he is a great player, but you're right, this line is starting to gel together and when (and if) Logan comes back in week 10 (to save his year of free agency eligibility), he may not have a spot on this team!

Connolly is playing great. All the Dolphin pressure was coming form the other side on Monday night.

No doubt, even the commentators were saying how he keeps the pile moving by keeping his legs churning. Just a different level of "want to" than Maroney.
