Devin McCourty: Developing into a Star
By: Derek Havens

New England Patriots 2010 first round pick rookie cornerback Devin McCourty has made an incredible impact on this 2010 Patriot team and is developing into one of the NFL's rising stars. ...

fans get all caught up in DROY rhetoric, but without regard this kid is beyond anyone's expectations.. and playing better than anyone expected, also shows a lot of toughness after getting a rib injury the previous week and playing all the snaps the following week..

This is a long term solution to a previous weakness...

Nice article, though it says Haynes holds the Pats rookie record with 6 INTs. I believe that should be 8, and so Devin isn't about to break it.

Anyhoo, 6 INTs is great for a STer who didn't have great hands according to a lot of draft gurus. It's amazing this kid only had 6 INTs total in college.

Jeff Howe thinks McCourty is the most valuable defensive rookie in the NFL - but Suh will be the NFL Rookie of the Year.

Devin McCourty Is NFL's Most Valuable Rookie, But He Won't Beat Ndamukong Suh for Rookie of the Year - Instant Opinion - NESN.com

However, Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty has been the NFL's most valuable rookie. He won't win any awards for that, simply because such an award doesn’t exist, but his presence on the Pats' growing defense could have them playing well into January or February.

There have been few certainties on New England's defense this season, and the stability that McCourty has provided at left cornerback has helped the Patriots shift their focus in other directions. McCourty isn’t in Darrelle Revis' class -- not by any stretch just yet -- in that the Patriots can't just leave McCourty on an island and ignore him.

But they have been able to trust him with less help, which has afforded the Patriots the ability to slide their safeties to other areas of the field. Plus, New England's opportunistic defense has forced 29 turnovers this season, and McCourty has had a hand in seven of them (six interceptions, one forced fumble). His playmaking ability in that department has been contagious.

It's my opinion that Suh is easily the DROY, and McCourty is easily second. Considering that Suh was the first defender chosen and McCourty was the 15th, I won't complain

Suh has actually dropped off a bit these last few weeks. I mean, he'll still probably win it by a landslide. But who knows what could happen if McCourty went beastmode these last two games. He needs a long pick six or something and I think it'd be a close race.

i wish we picked kyle wilson.... NAT

Mccourty :rocker:

Get used to it. This is mild compared to what is to come. Revenues, revenues:bricks:

the NFL doesn't give a **** about player safety..otherwise they wouldn't even consider 18 games...all about $$ and its sad...hate goodell
