Basically, if we say we're going to lose big time, we're jinxing it. If we say we're going to win, we spoil our karma. So the conclusion must be that superstition has no bearing on how one's team performs in a game.
I don't know if we can outscore Denver. We will need to if our defense plays anything like it did Sunday. We played well against a decent Jets offense; this defense can stop good offenses, but can it handle elite ones?. Can we stop Marshall, Stokley, Royal, and the rest? Not if we played like we did on Sunday. The defense must fix itself this week, and the offense needs to step up like it did against the 49ers. Otherwise, we will not have a good day.
That might be Maddenesque, but then maybe football isn't quite as complex as everyone makes it out to be.
