Deflation experiments show Patriots may have science on their side after all

Exposing a warm ball to cold rain which has a high specific heat would cool it down much faster than exposing a cold wet ball to dry air. Air has a low specific heat.

Ah, yes; I think you're right!

Is it too much to hope that the Colts equipment guy took a little air out of the intercepted ball to make sure the refs suspected foul play, and they are looking for THAT video?
It's also possible that just checking it lowered it.

Imagine he decided to check it (which I'm pretty sure is tampering, can't go around sticking things in approved footballs- but whatever lets ignore the actual evidence the Colts tampered and pursue the no evidence the Patriots tampered.

So he checks it which causes a .25 drop in psi. Since he's stupid and can't believe his eyes that the cold dropped the pressure he checks it again. Then takes it to Pagano who checks it, by the time they finally cry to the ref who checks it one last time they've dropped 1psi from the ball from checking.
