I noticed every defensive lineman had at least one tackle, including 2-2 for Brace and 2 for Deaderick. Since they lost the two all pro ends (Ty should have been), I was thinking a rotation based on situation would be best, since it also keeps fresh players in their.

5 tackles for TBC, means the OLB rotation looks good too, and the ILB rotation *cough Guyton* is still effective.

Players that are unselfish, keep learning and empty the tank can outperform all star lineups.

Can't wait to see the participation stats. BB just loves having versatile, but specialized tools to use. Incredible the proficiency so early.

Yes and some posters are mistaking this as a sign that this or that player "sucks" or is in "the doghouse." e.g., Brace, Pryor, or Deaderick.

More like keeping the front seven fresh throughout the game. The NFL season is not a sprint, it's a marathon!

Well, I had wondered about Brace, but yeah, that's ridiculous. You've got a freak like Seymour, you use him every play. They have one great lineman, and they're moving him around. Warren surprises me he's playing nose without complaining, that's great.

They've got such a nice combo of too short, but strong and fast, looks like Deadrick's a bit quicker, Brace stronger etc.

My point is, it's great if you can do it, but it's pretty complex to put the right guy in the right spot and still have them able to adjust if they get stuck with a no huddle or something. BB pretty much lives for this, so where getting to see a virtuoso coach/personnel job.

Oh, and I pay no attention to "those" posters anyway.

Yes, Belichick specializes in roles for the various defensive linemen. Last year, five DL's were in for more than 40% of the defensive reps: Wilfork, Warren, Green, Burgess and Wright. Pryor was in about 25% of the tiime. Brace had very limited duties and was often inactive.

I see this year as very similar to last year in scheme, except that I think Wilfork is getting more reps.

I see this defensive line as a very solid one, better than last year's and improving each week.

Warren has been a fine addition. He will be one of two critical free agents to deal with in the offseason.

The whole D has a ton of interchangeable parts, for an opposing team it must be difficult to plan for....

I like the rotation of guys we have. Brace made some nice plays, including a big surge on that 4th down stop at the end of the half. Everyone has contributed so far and I'm really pleased with our DL.

And kudos to Mike Wright for collecting a sack in his 4th straight game. That has to be the quietest streak on the team.

Of course I still want to see us draft a stud DE next year. That combined with our depth combined with Ty coming back would make this a major plus for us.

As I recall that was one of the ways the Giants gave us fits in 42. Had a hungry motivated youngster named Tuck they were rotating in on base defense to keep guys fresh and using in sub packages.

interesting....so these multiple players not only serve to have many people fresh at the end of the game, but also to take players who are having a bad day out, b/c it does happen when things just dont go right

Ty Warren solidifies our run defense. Bodden helps the secondary. As this defense keeps growing. It's strenths and weaknesses could change. Right now. I'd say improving the pass rush would be the best way to improve the defense. Hard to get from RDE in a 3-4. So, I'm thinking olb to play opposite J.Cunningham.

I think part of it too is that Minnesota had some extended drives in both halves. In those scenarios, you're subbing the big guys to keep them fresh.

I was really happy to see a line of Deaderick-Wilfork-Brace though. That's a lot of young beef up front.

From my understanding, there's a ton of DE talent in this draft, especially guys who fit our system. It might be the perfect time to get an elite talent without needing a top draft pick, a great potential value pick for us.

Brace seems like a solid run stopper but not necessarily a pass rush guy. Wright seems to be the exact opposite. They have roles to play, but not necessarily as full-time starters.

Ty will be 30 by the time he takes the field for us again and coming back from a major injury as well, so I hope he'll be fine, but don't want to take it for granted. If he is back though, it'd be the ideal time to have him train up an elite talent to start in the near future.

I was just thinking about Ty's future with the team this morning. He has one year left on his deal. I heard rumblings that the team was PO'ed he didn't have surgery earlier in the off-season.

As we have seen, BB is not shy about cutting/trading vets a year early in exchange for a draft pick if he thinks that the team can win without them.

I would not be surprised to see Ty Warren let go if he wants pro bowler money. Don't get me wrong, I think he deserves to be a pro bowler when he is healthy, and he solidified that side of the line for years now. I'd be thrilled to have him. But if guys like Brace and Deaderick keep playing well, it seems more likely that we use the Raiders pick, even if it is in the 12-18 range, to try to get another horse on the line.

If that happens in the draft, you now have Wilfork, Brace, Deaderick, Pryor, and a young (hopefully) stud draft pick, and then the equivalent of a Gerard Warren/Mike Wright affordable veteran. When Ty's contract expires, it would be hard to justify bringing him back for more than "good but not great" starter money.

Guys like Ty Warren and Nick Kaczur are done. Neither should play in a Patriot's uniform again. Either should Faulk for that matter. I have nothing against those guys, and am glad for their contributions. But it's time to move on.

I thought the DL did ok but no pressure still.They did enough to not break and give up the big run.This team needs to get more athletic up front.I would love to go after Hali from Kansas City.
