Defense first drive blues

I assume most/all of our defensive issues, first drives, zone coverage errors, lack of splash plays (sacks/turnovers) are the result of a first time coordinator.

The defense has the talent to be much better overall, as does the offense… that should be a comforting thought. They could/should improve… and they’re already really good.

I remember being frustrated by this back during the Belichick era. Seemed like almost every game the opponents' first drive would be a long one. It didn't end in scoring as often as we see this year but the feel was the same. I came to call it the "scouting drive" — show us what you've got and we'll adjust. And sure enough the D would usually clamp down after.

It’s also as simple as opponents practicing this drive all week leading up to this game. A drive built on what they perceive to be your weaknesses. After that drive they have to improvise… not as easy.

Has there been any word on whether Terrell Williams will return this year, or is that unknown?

I'd be kinda surprised if he does... Has he been attending the weekly practices and standing on the field?

Especially when Phatt Matt Patricia was the DC; they seemed to always get off to slow starts with him...
