"Deaths affect Belichick, but not his routine"

Interesting article.

But, of course, the most important lines:

"The situation here is good for me in several ways," he said. "Everything that goes into the operation I am comfortable with."

How much longer does he plan on coaching the Patriots?

"I don't envision feeling differently anytime soon," he said.

What an interesting piece. It must be comforting to have the football year constantly moving forward, forcing some normalcy onto life's uneven terrain.

Great article and kudos to the reporter for formulating a line of questioning that gives readers insight into how the top football mind of our generation handles life's tragedies and stays focused on his job and responsibilities to his employer and employees.

Over the past 2 years, he's had some close friends and his father pass away, Hes in the middle of a divorce (seems amicable), hes been named as the "other guy" in another divorce hearing, and his oldest son got picked up for drug posession.

The guy has problems just like us. Hes human. I admit, somtimes I forget that.

Good find. Thanks!

As anyone who has an involved schedule knows, a distraction makes tragedies easier to deal with. Simply sitting around and thinking about it just makes it worse.

I lost both my parents within a year of each other, both during football season. I think I missed one practice for each. I don't say that as a badge of courage, but because the focus required by football allowed me to deal without sinking into misery.

Can we really read in to what BB says? I can say definitively that BB is day-to-day about his coaching job here in NE.

Its too bad that this was done by a NY reporter and not one of the jugheads who report in the Boston papers (less Mike Reiss).

Definitively?

Day to Day? So he could quit tomorrow? I doubt that.

Day to Day would mean not planning for the future. If he was day to day, they'd give Asante whatever he wants and deal with it in the future.

I agree. When I was younger or while playing high school football thats the biggest reason I loved football season. Everything went away because all week I was focused on ONE thing.

"Definitively?" Then you know something that the rest of us do not...do tell us what you know and your source as we are waiting with bated breath...

Not to bust your chops 37 harrison's but when you do say "Definitively", that perks up people's attention.

Is this the soon-to-be-ex Mrs. Belichick? Is your husband quitting so that you can not collect on alimony payments that might be garnerd from his pay?

Pun unintended or tongue firmly set in cheek, this is worth a giggle.

I assume this is a joke referring to BB's "day to day" comments on all injuries, regardless of severity.

From Mike Freeman at cbssportsline.com.

"Several NFL sources with knowledge of the situation say Belichick has grown extremely irritated with the intense and mostly recent scrutiny of his personal life by some in the Boston media after Belichick's name surfaced in an extremely nasty divorce case last year. It has made him reconsider, these sources say, his long-term future in New England."

Personally, I think he loves it here and his situation. I saw all the media on this topic from Page 6 and The Inside Track. Nothing from Reiss and that sort on this topic and I don't see idiots asking those types of questions during his press conferences.

Yes, this makes sense. If he was the HC of the NYG, the New York media would CERTAINLY give him a free pass and respect his privacy.

Hell, the biggest coverage of this has probably been in the NY papers. BB is smart enough to know he would get his balls busted for this type of thing from NY to Green Bay and beyond.

Agreed. It's not the locale that impacts the attention to his private life, its his bigger-than-life status that has been attained by his professional success. The media is all over the place. There is nowhere to hide.

I think the media has acutally been pretty respective of BB's privacy. As I mentioned earlier, his boy got nailed with a dime-bag and hes going through a divorce and nearly a peep was written about it. The beat writers are staying away from that sort of news regarding BB. You just have same sort of paparazzi scum that care who Paris Hilton is banging chase his dirty laundry around.

Best. Post. Ever. Bless you.
