Conflicting Reports on Dillon

Besides pining away for AV most of the time, Felger managed to add that Dillon looked like a fat-as*s. At this point it's hard to take anything he says seriously. As far as I'm concerned, even if Dillon is at 245-250 now, it isn't a big deal. His playing weight is 235-240 (his listed weight is circa 1998), and he has 3 months to get there. As long as his legs are healthy and he still likes inflicting pain on the enemy, I expect big things.

PE,
I understand what you are saying but let's suppose for a second that the reports of Dillon being chubby are true. Doesn't it bother you a little bit that a guy that had a terrible year in 2005 and is getting older shows up to mini-camp fat instead of in great physical condition with something to prove? I know he has three months to get into shape but if he is heavy, him being out of shape in the first place is a concern for me because it tells me something about his heart and lack of desire, especially when the team drafts a young back in the first round as well.

I may be able to shed some light on this subject. I considered posting this yesterday but figured I would receive the same kind of treatment many of you are giving Tomase so I decided against it. But since he brought it up, I figured I would chime in.

I have a friend who is an executive with Monster.com. He golfed at the charity tournament yesterday and saw Dillon. Now I should say that my friend lives and breaths Patriots football. However, when he got home last night he called me and told me how big Dillon looked. He said he looked 15-20 pounds bigger than last year and he had a big butt and a bit of a gut. Now, in the last couple of weeks we have Carl Banks, John Tomase and my friend telling us that Dillon is out of shape and Curran saying he's running hard. My guess is three people who actually saw Dillon with their own eyes might be more accurate than Curran's very informative, "Corey Dillon is running hard and looks good." Aren't they in shorts? Anyone can run hard in shorts. I'm more concerned with the people who are telling us he's overweight. I love the Patriots but we now have three people saying Dillon is fat. I'm sorry but that raises a red flag with me.

I wonder if any other reporters will mention anything over the next couple of days. Again, I have not seen Dillon myself, just going by what someone told me.

My grandmother's son's friend's dog who ran away with they guy at the club's cat's sister's flee who hijacked a mouse at Petmart said he was skinny. So there. My source is just as good as yours. I am not saying he is skinny, just what that flee told me.

Why do we have to make fun of everyone who hear's something ? Why would people bother posting a little nugget if they hear something ?

because the flea I mentioned has just as much credibility.

Again, why I didn't post this yesterday. You have to love it.

Felger: Dillon is fat
Tomase: Dillon is fat
Banks: Dillon is fat
My friend: Dillon is fat

Curran: Dillon ran hard in shorts with no contact

Who do most people on this board believe? The one person on the planet kissing Dillon's ass. Shocking, I know. I love how myself, Tomase, Felger and Banks all have some kind of agenda but Curran is just telling it like it is. I guess time will tell.

Also, I see no reason for a personal attack on me just for passing along information. Classy Patriots fans, huh? I don't have anything better to do than come on hear and make fun of a guy whose jersey I wear on Sundays and who I'm dissapointed in if he's out of shape because I like him so much as a football player. That makes a lot of sense.

if you can't take the criticism for a silly source then don't post it. it is even worse when you know that you will get smacked for posting it, then whine when you get smacked.

Well we can't stop you from posting your feelings but it would be nice if you wouldn't chase away everyone who hears something because some of us like to hear it.

Thanks for smacking me, I really needed it. Now, stop embarrassing yourself, at least attempt to write in correct english and talk some football instead of trying to be a one-man comedy act on an Internet message board. Sorry, I'm not tough like you so I can't beat you up over the Internet but that was one heck of a butt-kicking you put on me. Thanks again.

PS Please tell me that's not really you in that picture. If it is, you have bigger fish to fry than smacking me.

I for one am thankful for posts from folks like patriotsrule who make their own observations or who post something from a trusted friend source. I've posted training camp observations on USENET for years as have others. Here, we're fortunate that Karen (a.k.a. Mrs Bruschi) posts daily camp observations.

Thanks to the ubiquity of the net, bogus sources will get outed soon.

Regarding Dillon, I believe that he tends to get heavy off season and will run his ass into shape enough to pass BB's opening day running drill - unlike Antowain Smith who always failed it.

Me too. Although "sources" can sound spooky, there are actually people who have them and I love to hear the stuff.

Right. And we as adults can evaluate the credibility over time, rembering that nobody's omniscient.

PR,
I trust your source much more than I trust Felger or Tomase. Felger and Tomase have an agenda vis a vis Dillon. Felger hated the Dillon trade from the beginning because of his "history" and has been lying in the weeds waiting to knock him, and Tomase is Felger's cabin boy. Furthermore, they will try to milk the RB "controversy" as much as possible. I don't doubt your source saw Dillon overweight, but Dillon and Rodney are close and if Dillon needs a kick in the as*s Rodney will deliver it.

Noticed him in a brief look on NFL Total Access at mini-camp, he looked the way he usually looks, big and tough.

PR"s friend is as good an eye witness as anyone else. And his passing on that info To PR and PR passing it on to us is fine. PR shouldn't be ridiculed for passing that on.

I forgot the rest of the point I was going to make but it would have been really interesting.

I take everything John says about football with a grain of salt (and a dollup of butter if it's handy)...
wow

have a phobia about overweight people, do you?

I agree with that. I enjoy the first- (and second-) hand accounts of Patriot sightings. It's easy enough to take them with a grain of salt, and there's often validity there.

paaaaaaaahahaaaaaaahaaaaahhhhhhhaaaaaaaa. "write in correct english." what an oxymoron. now that was funny. As far as the embarrassment is concerned, try not to put so much weight into an internet message board. Thank you so much for the avatar insult. At least I could figure out how to post one.

Now onto a serious thought. Every single one of you on this board (I hope) have a passion for accurate info. Yes, I am critical of such a source that was cisted above because of the lack of specificity and creditbility. Anybody has a right to post what they wish. Anyone can call Dillon fat. Fact is the pic (that stands for picture & is proper English) does not show a fat guy. If you don't like what I posted why don't you all take your own advice that you so frequently share and "just ignore the post."

I'm sure Dillon stayed off his feet for a while to let his legs heal. When these guys don't run they often gain weight, (see Ty Law).

When you get older, it's harder to shed those pounds even if you work out like a maniac.

I'm just glad his legs are healed. That's the most important thing.

Conditioning has never been an issue with this guy and a lot of our vulture press doesn't like him anyway, (Although I can't speak for the cousin's hairdressers golf caddy's brother in law).

Since we have a picture of him bending forward at the waist with no apparent gut, I'll go with that.

When they are know it all Boston mediot wannabes I do. Must come from listening to too many years of fat wannabes pontificating (or screaming) on the airwaves. In Boston the twist on the old adage is those who can play, those who can't write or talk about those who can and get fat and rich ball busting what they couldn't be.

I used to be skeptical of people who posted "inside" info but now through a friend at work his nephew is as good as a source a fan could ask for, he happens to be trying to make a hated rival but it is cool to hear the info about the Colts nonetheless. It is how I heard Addai is a dumbass and is not understanding the playbook. But if I explained exactly who that person is then it could get back to the team and maybe create an unneeded problem. Sounds corny but as we all know some players view the boards.
