On the one hand, it seems simple - Jets, as the #6 seed, are the easier team to face. Right? We destroyed them 45-3 last we played them. However, I caution to write them off even when all logic suggests we should be huge favorites. They have played us tough twice in the past two years - and the Ryan style defense has been about as good as any as having some effect on this offense in the past several years. Obviously, we dismantled them about as badly as one could imagine just a few weeks ago - but, they can't be written off entirely.

On the other hand, it is the Jets, and I cannot fathom rooting for this Jets team that has become so easy to dislike, so annoying, so loathsome. Don't get me wrong, I hate Peyton Manning. But I respect his game. He's one of the few players in the postseason worth fearing. I can't root for him either, but at least he's worthy of respect.

If the Colts win, that brings us either KC or Baltimore. Both are likely more difficult matchups than the Jets, on paper - so, maybe the answer just is that simple. We have to root for the friggin Jets for a week.

Is it possible not to root for either? I hate to break the habit of a lifetime.

Jeez, couldn't the poll be worded to say "who will you root against most?" :rocker:

LOL, probably a good idea.

I also like Deus' suggestion per another thread of rooting for an asteroid, LOL.

I'll be disgusted watching either team win, but let's be realistic here. The Colts will have a really tough time against the Patriots; the Jets have almost no chance. The Patriots would absolutely take the Jets to the woodshed.

As for the result of success, the Colts would use it to gain confidence, the Jets would gain "swagger" (overconfidence that ultimately becomes their undoing.) I'd prefer if the Jets won, but I won't actually root for it. I hope the game goes into 271 overtime sessions and ends 5 minutes before kickoff the next weekend.

Rooting is a strong word.

I am hopeful that the Colts lose because:

1) They still scare me

2) That would mean we play the Jets and I think the Pats would destroy them in a 3rd matchup.

3) From a bracketology standpoint, if NYJ loses that would send BAL/KC to NE but I'd rather see BAL & Pitt beat up on one another before the AFCCG.

I hate the Jets more.

Either way I see the game as win-win. I will be celebrating one of those teams losing.

Go Asteroid!!!!!

I think we will beat any team we face in the playoffs. Although I believe the Jets would be the easiest for us, I simply cannot root for them. Ever. Giving any level of validation to Rex's pre-season SB victory dance just would tick me off.

Manning I dislike but respect. If he wins a playoff game it will feel more deserved than the jets winning off the choke. I won't exactly be rooting for either team but I think its safe to say I'll be rooting against the Jets as per usual, but I won't mind the occasional Manning-face either. :singing:

I hope the Colts win then we would play the winner of the Kansas City /Baltimore game and the Colts would have to go to the Steelers and they can beat each other up and the winner can limp into Foxboro in the AFC championship game.I think after last years drubbing by the Ravens BB would never allow another performance like that to happen again.I think KC is good but not a threat to beat the Pats..

This poll is incomplete. "Neither, because it doesn't matter" should be an option.

I will be rooting for the JEST if for no other reason then I would very much like to see another Ravens/Steelers game.

I really dont care but If I had to root for one of them it would be the Jets, because id love for Manning to lose another playoff game early and I want us to eliminate the Jets!

I am rooting for the Colts, because I'm sick to death of the Jets. I'm tired of watching them, tired of hearing about them, and tired of them playing the Patriots. Enough is enough.

If the Ravens win the Jets, if the Chiefs win the Colts.

no way i will root for the jets unless it effects us getting into the playoffs like 2008.

I'll be rooting for a freak asteroid the size of Lucas Oil Stadium to randomly land on top of that place at approximately 8:30ish Saturday night.

LOL, this is true.

I don't dislike the Colts; I respect and fear them. Therefor they are the team I want to get past on the road to the Super Bowl.

The Jets, on the other hand, are loathsome, vile creatures. Since we can't ban them from the league then I just want them to be crushed in every game.

Actually I'll go with my old standby.

A huge volcano opening up and swallowing the whole stadium where the Ravens have come to watch live and Jets and Colts fans in the parking lot, washed down with a Lava chaser.

Rooting for the Green Beans to have ANY kind of success, ever, is a crime against God, small children, the elderly, and defenseless animals. The Green Beans are evil and soulless and must be destroyed at the earliest possible opportunity.

If the Ravens win the Jets, if the Chiefs win the Colts.

This. I would rather have the Ravens and Steelers beat up on each other. Personally between these two outcomes alone I would like to play the Colts. Yes, I think the Jets are the better matchup for the Pats and Peyton is scary. But still, I would absolutely LOVE for Tom Brady to personally end another season for Peyton Manning...and it would have the added benefit of the Jets not making it out of the first round. In addition, if things were to go wrong and the Pats were to lose I would rather lose to the Colts then to the Jets and have to listen to their fans.

Seriously, how long have the Patriots beat up on the Jets, with of course some losses filtered in. We only have so many more chances to beat Peyton in the playoffs and add to the Brady-Manning debate.
