You can disagree all you want, but that doesn't make you correct. Kevin Boss is a good blocker and Gonzalez has actually learned to block. I also disagree with you about the state of blocking TEs in the league. I can bring up numerous ones who are pretty good. Kleinsasser, Spaeth, and Royal, just to start with.

Baloney and nonsense. Kliensasser is a very good blocker. Period. Gonzalez never was home to have an opportunity, when he catches 100 passes. Ditto for Boss. Watson has turned into a better than average blocker and so has Thomas. They were drafted as Receiving TEs though. The proof of the pudding is in the rushing statistics. RB by committee, worked marvelously for the Pats. So the individual running talent of a "'franchise" LT type RB, didn't count for much with the Pats. Somebody, or something, was suddenly opening holes for the rushing game, led by a crew of just above-average RBs. Did you consider the TEs?

With respect to receiving, TE's usually run routes over the short middle. If they have some speed, they can try to complete passes up the seams of a zone. But that is much more difficult to do. Those seam routes do not open as reliably. The position for a big man is almost completely turned around, too. Big guys are just not that agile, and able to handle those passes.

Look at the Patriots receiving game. The areas usually allotted to the TEs are overflowing with the routes of the best slot receiver in the game and the best 3rd down back in the game. Welker and Faulk eat up a lot of the area, that TEs usually are allocated.

The Patriots TEs combined for thirty receptions from that position. In view of Welker and Faulk eating up a large portion of their usually assigned area, that is actually quite a lot of production there. It also indicates that the Pats could withstand an injury there. The TE talent is there, to pick up the slack in the areas that would be vacated. Meanwhile they are staying home more frequently, and opening holes for the running game. :singing:
