Who says you need to trade up for a pass rush?

But really, this kid has been the steal of the year for waiver claims so far.

Jones played for Bowling Green from 2009 to 2012. In 2009, he had 29 total tackles. The following season, he had 39 tackles and 6.0 sacks. He then had 47 tackles and 8.5 sacks in 2011 and was named to the All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) first team. In 2012, Jones had 42 tackles, and he ranked third in the nation with 12.5 sacks. He was the MAC defensive player of the year and was named to the All-MAC first team again.[1]

Leads all rookies in sacks and he's only played 4 games with 2 starts!

5.5 sacks from 2 rookies + 6.5 from Chandler Jones is a pretty nice start to the season and with Miami's poor OL those numbers should go up this week to make a pretty good looking half a season stat line.

In a perfect world (well with Wilfork on IR anyway) Jones and Vellano continue to improve, Armstead makes his long awaited debut and proves to be everything we hope he's been advertised to be and Ninkovrabel, Kelly and Bones Jones keep doing their thang, then the DL looks a lot healthier than it did a week or two ago coming down the stretch.

I can't wait for Kelly to be back. I think the rotation of Jones, Kelly, and Vellano will be pretty good. A pass rush of Jones, Jones, Kelly, and Ninkovich could be pretty formidable.

Wilfork at 100% is better than any one of those guys, but we don't know if we were ever going to see a 100% Wilfork this season even if he didn't tear his achilles (I had concerns his added weight might have slowed him down all year).

BTW, thanks for all the teams that passed on Jones. The Texans could really need him right now with their poor defense. Chris Jones would be an upgrade to Earl Mitchell at NT.

That would be all the teams ahead of New England in the waiver wire, plus specifically Tampa Bay, who waived him too.

Even in that situation, I'd still like a big body who can stop the run, but I won't be complaining by a long shot if it pans out that way.

Chris Jones. Your Delta Tau Chi name is "Pusher"

The amazing thing is, in only 4 games, he has ONE LESS SACK than JJ Watt ! I think the ONLY reason Chris Jones was drafted so late, is because his production was against weaker competition. BUT, anytime a DT gets 12.5 in 11 games, the guy has to have SOME talent. I think with the Bucs and Texans, it was a numbers game. They both probably thought they could sneak him onto their practice squad.

Players capable of a sack a game don't belong on anyone's Practice Squad.

He's got the Bowling Ball Move down!

It is my educated guess that he was already playing on an injury related to the achilles before it gave out on him. In the games prior to his injury, he was already showing a noticable difference in performance, e.g., losing leverage battles which is so unlike him.

The Pats only have 14.5 sacks on the year. All but 1.5 of them (Mayo) have been by the defensive line. The Pats get no pass rush in the form of a blitz at all. Partly because they don't blitz very often, and partly because their blitzes don't tend to produce sacks from the blitzing players.

Adding Andre Carter, getting Tommy Kelly (2.5 sacks), and getting Armstead up and running should continue to help the pass rush.

Why is everybody so optimistic about Armstead? I was on the hype train like everybody else but this guy is a rookie who hasn't played a single game. Is he even practicing?

No one seems particularly optimistic - only hopeful that he may be able to contribute at some point.

Chris Jones - 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct. Woo-hoo!

Now you can throw in andre carter and the pr could be scary.

2011 Andre Carter? Sure. Andre Carter today? Another matter entirely.

Looks to me like Ninkovich is going to be playing in space more.

Chris Jones leads rookies in Sacks

Anyone see the replay of his barrel roll sack? It's so hypnotic. Majestic even.

Just dominates his man and then tumbles his way to a sack.
