We haven't sign any vets since the draft. However, we are chasing the positions that need help: LB and RB. The current candidates are Seau, Brown and Brown. These players may not be great but all would improve the roster.

I think any of them would be fine additions.

I really don't understand the uproar over a potential Chad Brown signing...we have Vrabel, Colvin and Thomas all capable of playing OLB extremely well, obviously, it would simply be for depth....

Seau played well for us last year, and the D was less effective once he went down. I'd love to have him back.

As for Chris Brown, I hear he can run it, run it. *shakes head at self and walks away ashamed.

Hopefully they hit on at leat one of these guys. Seau has been hurt in each of the last 4 years but has shown he can be productive against the run.

Chad Brown is a pretty strong #4 OLB. I would note that Green is the often a pass-rusher, often an OLB responsibility. He obviously would get more reps with two OLB injuries.

Hold it.... why would we try this Chad Brown experiment again now?

So If somebody goes down we can insert Brown and move VRabes if we have to.

We can't not sign a linebacker who can play at all IMO.

I think Chad Brown is a fav of Belichick and he knows the system.. Brown got hurt in camp, and could not contribute.. I say he would be a solid depth along with Seau...

Glad Seau is back but don't think Brown is the answer for LB depth, and Chris Brown at RB seems like a lot of roster spots for backup RBs

IIRC the experiment was playing him at ILB -- I don't think that the Patriots will do that again.

According to NECN we have signed C. Brown and Junior:rocker:

Thats great news.

I was wondering if Brown had been offered a 1 year 'try-before-you-buy' deal with the Patriots and wanted to wait and see if any longer term deals became available.

Although injury prone, Brown has been an effective RB while on the field - I think in a back-up role he will be potentially explosive (maybe he can reach the heady heights of his 2004 4.9ypc avg).

Its a fine balance I guess, making sure Maroney gets enough reps to feel like he is a permanent fixture in every game and ensuring he doesn't take too much punishment.

I'd rather see Woods at OLB then Brown. Either way there will be some good competition at camp.

I really like the signings of all 3....
Junior Seau is the inside backer who will be the TJ type of player who will stop the run. If he signs I have a feeling he'll be playing a bit less, but this will only more insure he will be there for the whole campaign. I love his fiery attitude and tough play.
Chad Brown brings some solid verteran OLB play to the team. I think it;s incredibly unfair to use 05 or even 06 as a measure of what he can do. Last year he was injured and out of position in 05, moving inside into a position he was learning. IF he is used situationally outside to his strengths, it will give the team great fkexibility in it's linebacking group and a chance for players to rest.
Chris Brown is the backup feature RB/inside runner that this team needs. Surprisingly, he's 26...still incredibly young. Why I think it's a good match is that he'd be part of the running game NOT carrying the full load and again, will help late in the game killing the clock as well as a change of pace inside running threat.
In my opinion..all 3 will help solidify the team.

Although he may be a step down, what about William Green (Cleveland via Cleveland circle). I think he will be let go, has special teams experience and could be a solid backup.

Has anyone followed his career, any insights on whether is more than a JAG?

As far as camp fodder at OLB, I would rather see LeVar Harrington brought in. At least he has upside (if he can walk), Chad Brown is done like dinner.

Not sure Green is the type of runner the team is looking for...which is more the inside runner than an outside threat. I think Green also has some baggage which they may not wish to add. Harrington might be more the flash/hype type player..but I wonder about intangibles and whether the money/ having to be a spot player would really fit in. Brown seems more like a real team player and one who could be used at certain times.

Junior is signed. Two to go!
