WOW! - I believe it was Pat Kirwin just an hour ago on Sirius Radio who was BASHING Cedric Benson today saying that right after the fumble he had when he got hit again,he didn't get up when he really should have tried and when he walked off he decided to call it quits for the day and no matter how bad the swelling was in the knee or whatever pain he had and Cedric should have demanded that the medical staff should have given him a big shot of pain killer and that Cedric should have demanded to be back in there during the biggest game of his career and instead he chickened out.

He says Cedric is an underachiever in his career and he showed it again...I don't know exactly how bad his knee really was but that was some fiesty words from a Sirius announcer who really had no idea if it would have been a difference if he went back into the game,He must not like him for some reason.

He also said that the Chicago FO should look hard into keeping Benson on the team and if they let Jones get away the FO should be under deep scrutiny.

pretty harsh words there. The way Benson got hit it looked like he couldnt come back, pain killers or not.

I thought Marvin was done on his hit - the knee/ankle took a ugly twist

Marvin is a tough S.O.B. most receivers would have called it quits after that hit, gotta give him credit,he is an awesome WR...and tough too.

Next week Kirwan will be bashing Belichick for playing Johnson.

Ouch,that's harsh.

It looked to me like Benson had a concussion, he banged his head pretty hard.

True. Maybe the hit looked worse than it was,but it looked nasty.I was surprised to see him walking that one off.

Benson has been a disappointment by and large, although that graphic they showed of how he'd elevated his play down the stretch underscored how much they needed him last night - particularly given they way Rex is prone to falling apart. I must admit my first thought was there's the you need me injury to counter/cover the earlier oops I fumbled.

In watching the Bears unravel they struck me as an undisciplined team. Flying around and swarming are all well and good unless half of your problems seem to be a result of running into each other rather than by or to the opponent or the ball.

When the going gets tough, the tough show up. Marvin may not take a lot of hits and he may disappear at times but when the chips are down he makes the incredible drive or game saving catch and he plays hurt. He's had wrist and hand issues plague him the last couple of seasons but you'd never know it. I though when Benson finally walked off looking pretty good he'd be back. I guess Pat Kirwin thought the same. Pat's an insiders insider too, so he may have heard some grumbling after the game to come on that strong.

I'd say that for a #4 pick Benson HAS been a disappointment. When you spend a pick that high you expect to get a Ladainian Tomlinson or a Reggie Bush. Benson hasn't even managed to displace Thomas as the starter. Granted Thomas is a very good back, but when you are picked in the top 5 you are expected to become one of the league's best at the position.

Thomas Jones himself was a huge disappointment once upon a time.

If it was indeed Pat Kirwan who made those comments that's pretty telling. Kirwan isn't some blowhard, he's a fairly respected and objective guy. WOW. Can anyone confirm it was he who said those things?

Jerry Angelo knows alot about first round busts!

If he was hurt badly enough to have to sit out in the Superbowl, saying he is a worthless ***** is just out of line. You want to call him an under achiever, fine. But a worthless ***** is just a stupid thing to say.

I believe it was Kirwin,Thats why I posted this...What I can tell you for sure is that it is one of the two guys that does the 11am est show on Sirius NFL Radio Ch.124- Sounded like Pat to me.

Of course he did not come directly out and say he was a '****y' but came aobut as close as you can come to saying it without getting fired by Sirius.

Well, if he didn't say it, why did you say in the title that he did say it?

There is a big difference between saying someone is dogging it and call him a worthles $^#&*.

Now do you really think Sirius would let him say that? .. He said it in so many words.

If someone was to tell you to go F--K yourself do you think they actually meant for you to do it physically or was it something that was understood in a way rather than directly and I never took a simple term as 'Dogging it' as his way of explaining his disgust in that situation,he came as close to saying what I posted without actually saying it,If you heard the comments earlier today you would agree they were strong.

Other than Howard Stern,no one has leeway to say stuff like that on Sirius unless modifying it in some way.
