Carr OUT for the season

Yup, which would give them nothing to play for on Sunday. Would not have guessed a few weeks back that we'd have more to play for than they would in week 17.

I think the Steelers might have to win too? I am not sure about tie breakers between the Steelers and the Dolphins.. nvm the Dolphins beat the Steelers. So Miami would hold the tie breaker so the Steelers have to beat the Ravens or they are done.

People must of forgot about last year where we played "not to get hurt" in week 17 and handed Peyton Manning a second Super Bowl.
You mean the team with one of the best defenses of all time? I agree with playing to win, but Oakland is not Denver, especially without Carr. That offense won't score enough without Carr against us and that defense is nowhere near Denver @Mile High.

So if Denver loses tomorrow are they officially eliminated?

The game that wouldn't of been close had it been played in Foxboro, they played scared to get hurt and it blew up in their faces.

Everyone should play and if someone gets hurt well hard luck, that's the NFL.

Yes. If DEN loses tomorrow the best they can possibly be is 9-7. MIA and the 2nd place AFCW team (whoever that ends up being) have already won at least 10. Therefore DEN is behind two other potential WC teams and is thus eliminated.

Here's something crazy: if Pittsburgh and KC win tommorow, the 6 playoff teams are set in the AFC. Seeding is all that can change.

Cross post..

I hate seeing young QB's go down. I am a Ducks fan, Marcus is my dude. What happen to Marcus and Carr, really makes me look in awe to Tom. Dude never ends up in those roll up situations. It's crazy.

Marcus hurt tho..

Still amazes me the level of delusion on here back then

"Oh yeah, they're so good they can just go into Denver and win that one, not really a big deal..."

WTF?!

Didn't expect Collins to blow 2 coverages and for Stork to give away the snap count. Not to mention Ghost missing his first XP all year, which changed the game.

Denver might blow out Oakland by a score of 5-3 next week.

This may be an unpopular post, but is a situation worth discussing. If Derek Carr is done for the season, would it be worth the Patriots resting some starters next week. Here's the logic (or stupidity haha): if the Patriots play all out against a good Miami pass rush, they risk injury to significant players. The downside of this approach is potentially losing the #1. However, the odds of the Raiders winning in Denver just took a dip. Moreover, the Raiders as #1 without Carr will likely lose to the team visiting them; even if Oakland and New England both win in the divisional round, us travelling to Oakland without Carr is not insurmountable. Last year, travelling to Denver was a disaster, but let's not take that scenario and apply it to this year which is very different.

The question is whether we allow a hobbled Raiders team to have a chance at the #1 if it means keeping our top guys healthy. I'm a fan of rolling the dice with Jimmy G. next week, but realize most are probably against this approach due to last year's results. However, let's not base our approach on one season's failure - I'd like this team to be intact heading into the postseason against a weak conference with Carr out.
Not to mention if Miami gets in either Pitt or Balt is out.

Is Carr injured too? I don't like to support a guy being injured, but if he is I don't see any situation we don't make the Superbowl..
you could try out for Oakland now with your tremendous accuracy you mentioned. (and such)

Pats should definitely rest players next week because Oakland is not a threat and Miami isn't making past wild card.
it is a valid point. If Miami wins either Pitt or Balt is out (or maybe Denver even)

I'm totally all for the argument that the Patriots would've had a better chance to win at their place, but if your the better team, just win the game. Where the game is played isn't an excuse to lose

Edit: A depleted pats line and backfield just couldn't run the ball on Denvers elite defense, that's why we lost.

I'm pretty sure that if Miami wins, Denver is gone because KC has the other wild card spot clinched.

Honestly I don't see how going with Jimmy next week is laying down, our backup could start for most teams. Why risk an injury to Brady against a dirty Miami team when you could still beat their ass with Jimmy and pump his value up even more?
