So, I don't get it. Do the cranberrys grow in the water (sort of like algae)? Or do they get dumped in the water after they are pulled off of a bush or tree? And what are the stick things the guys are holding?

Cranberries are hollow. When they are redy to pick, the fields get flooded and the cranberries float to the top of the water. It is easier to harvest them that way.

Not to nitpick, but they are made of wood just like witches, which is why they float.

Alternatively, they could also just be less dense than water, like many fruits are.

My understanding is they have a "beater" machine that literally beats the bushes shaking the cranberries loose so they float on the water and then can be scooped up.
