Originally it was reported that we'd swap 4th, 5th, and 6th round choices as our comp for Cannon. Now it appears we swapped 6th's, but the remaining compensation is a 5th for a 4th:
On Thursday, we found out what the Patriots received for trading Marcus Cannon to the Houston Texans, with the Patriots sending Cannon, a fifth-rounder and a sixth rounder to the Texans for a fourth-round pick and a sixth rounder.... it’s expected the Pats received pick 122 (fourth rounder) and pick 187 (sixth rounder) while sending pick 158 (fifth round) and 194 (sixth round).

So our return was a slight improvement in the 6th round (194 to 187), and a big jump from 158 to 122. We don't get the 4th pick of day 3 (110), but we do end up with three 4th's and no 5th rather than two 4th's and a 5th.

To be fair, I think they just described it poorly. It was described as a trade of fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-round picks, which is what happened . . . just not quite the way some of us thought.

Not sure which is more favorable to us, they both have advantages & disadvantages...
