I've seen this mentality around here a lot... defense gets an interception, it's Manning shooting himself in the foot. Manning throws a TD, it's the defense making a mistake, not the fact that Manning is really good.
Either the other team is playing or they're not. If you're going to blame the defense for giving up points, you have to credit them for getting stops. If you're going to blame Manning for throwing picks, you have to give him credit for making plays.
BB has some concept of how Johnson was defended in college and one of the players who helped limit him in their games. BB has Chung who seems to be able to play somewhat effectively at Safety/Nickelback. McCourty and Arrington both have shown some ability to play big receivers. BB has tape of Johnson in the NFL.
Nonsense, we know Manning shoots his toes off just often enough to have earned a substantial anticlutchness rating in the postseason, though it was nice to see the kids set him up for some unseasonal toe shots with their disguised coverages.
