Calvin Johnson is the best WR the secondary has faced yet

Johnson is a ridiculous talent, but frankly even if we cede him 100 yards and 2 touchdowns, the game is still very winnable.

Faulty logic...

Peyton + ANY WR is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Any other Teams combo vs. us.

And FTR, we didnt exactly shut Manning down so much as he shot himself in the foot. Let's not overboard on Last weeks win.

3 interceptions says otherwise. I enjoy how everytime the Pats force multiple turnovers, the other team shot itself in the foot.

Newsflash: Manning rarely shoots himself in the foot, and definitely doesn't do it 3 times per game.

It's primarily but not just Calvin Johnson; the Lions are a pretty good test for the entire pass defense of the Pats.

Calvin Johnson: 55 rec,725 yards (13.2 ypc), 10 TD
Brandon Pettigrew: 50 rec, 487 yards (9.7 ypc), 3 TD
Nate Burleson: 37 rec, 433 yards (11.7 ypc), 4 TD
Tony Scheffler: 32 rec, 283 yards (8.8 ypc), 1 TD
Running Backs: 80 rec, 651 yards (8.1 ypc), 1 TD
Other WR: 11 rec, 110 yards (10.0 ypc), 0 TD

I've seen this mentality around here a lot... defense gets an interception, it's Manning shooting himself in the foot. Manning throws a TD, it's the defense making a mistake, not the fact that Manning is really good.

Either the other team is playing or they're not. If you're going to blame the defense for giving up points, you have to credit them for getting stops. If you're going to blame Manning for throwing picks, you have to give him credit for making plays.

Meriweather, Miami = ACC
Johnson, Georgia Tech = ACC

BB has some concept of how Johnson was defended in college and one of the players who helped limit him in their games. BB has Chung who seems to be able to play somewhat effectively at Safety/Nickelback. McCourty and Arrington both have shown some ability to play big receivers. BB has tape of Johnson in the NFL.

What me worry?

Nonsense, we know Manning shoots his toes off just often enough to have earned a substantial anticlutchness rating in the postseason, though it was nice to see the kids set him up for some unseasonal toe shots with their disguised coverages.
