And safety Ahmad Black.

Ogletree was pretty hot last year to start off with the Cowboys, and I have a feeling the Bucs may be cutting players more due to Schianno's friction and Freeman too, than due to them being horrible.

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Buccaneers apparently are shaking up their roster a bit during their bye week after an 0-4 start.

The team announced Tuesday that receiver Kevin Ogletree and safety Ahmad Black have been released.

The team had high hopes for Ogletree as the third receiver, but he had produced only eight catches in four games.

Black had 12 tackles in four games. His release is a sign that starting safety Mark Barron's hamstring injury is minor.

I mean, they didn't like Talib either...your thoughts on if the Pats should give him a look?

People were high on ogletree but not sure the timing is right for the pats. They dont want anyone else to come in and take reps.Unless of course ,dobson has to miss time. Maybe he has to clear waivers too.

No thank you. 11, 17, 82 and 85 are doing just fine. They'll be even better when 80 and 87 return.

He doesn't have to go through waivers. He's a vested vet so he's a FA right away.

Yup.

yup.

heck, I want to see more balls thrown to Dobson and Boyce, get some momentum going.

Pass.

Would rather see more of Josh Boyce than guys like Ogletree.

But if dobson is out for some time , we might need some WR depth as well.

Reportedly there is no damage to Dobson, he is just dealing with some neck and back soreness.

This is what I was thinking, but if Dobson's fine then I wouldn't mess with him either.

Boyce has got some wheels, I'd love to see what he can do when he gets on the same page as TFB.

Most of the people in Tampa thought very little of Ogletree.

Bucs roster shake up begins with release of WR Ogletree, S Black | Tampa Bay Times

The Bucs began a shake up after an 0-4 start Tuesday by releasing receiver Kevin Ogletree and waiving safety Ahmad Black.

Receiver Chris Owusu will be promoted from the practice squad and the team is expected to re-sign receiver Tiquan Underwood, who was released after training camp.

Ogletree, who was signed as a free agent from the Dallas Cowboys, had eight receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown. But he dropped several passes and did not provide the Bucs with a reliable slot receiver they were looking for.

Buccaneers release Kevin Ogletree - Bucs Nation

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released their worst receiver.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released Kevin Ogeltree, according to Pro Football Talk. The receiver, whose salary is effectively guaranteed, has starred in dropped passes and badly run routes this season after being signed to compete for the third receiver position. Ogletree beat out Tiquan Underwood in preseason, although no one really knows why. Ogletree has 8 catches for 70 yards on the season.

It's not clear who the Bucs are going to sign to replace Ogletree, although in the short term it's likely that Eric Page will get a bigger role as a receiver. A logical player to re-sign would be the aforementioned Tiquan Underwood, who spent all of preseason with the Buccaneers.

The Bucs could also promote Chris Owusu to the regular season roster from the practice squad. Owusu had a very good offseason, but faltered badly in preseason, in part due to an injury. If he were to get another chance perhaps he could show off his impressive physical skillset.

The cutting of Black is a bit of a surprise since he played so much, and especially since starting safety Mark Barron suffered a hamstring injury Sunday and those things don’t heal so quickly. Perhaps Black’s history of running afoul of the law had something to do with this move?

Joe had had it with Ogletree and his drops. Joe scolded Bucs commander Greg Schiano Monday for having the gall to keep Ogletree, who made Michael Clayton look like Cris Carter, yet benched Josh Freeman for “performance.”

Joe didn’t have an issue with benching Freeman but as Joe had pointed out, if Freeman got benched for performance, how could Schiano justify keeping Ogletree on the roster?

Joe’s question was answered this morning.
