Go to your CPU search engine and plug "Cincinnati Bengals offensive line sucks" into it and watch how many articles appear, not just last year, the year before that, the year before that. More importantly go look at the leading snap counts on offense and who their starters were, they suck... when Ted Karras (our backup center) is arguably your best lineman you aren't very good.So you're both a little wrong. Thinking a better ol would automatically make Burrow not take sacks doesn't make sense once you understand the QB position. Sure a better OL helps, of course it does. It's not changing a high sack guy that plays a certain way. Burrow is very good at maneuvering and navigating a pocket. It's a pocket management issue rather than someone who just will always hold the ball too long looking for a big play.
Sacks isn't just a QB stat, it's a line stat. Jared Goff threw the second most passes in the NFL last season, he had the third best sack percentage in the NFL... it's because his line is manned by studs, not because Goff possess some otherworldly ability to evade pressure. When you snap the ball and 2-3 defenders blow by your blocking... suggesting it's a QB problem is absurd.
This ^ is a joke.If you don't have Lamar Jackson as elite you're wasting a lot of time "watching film." Great mof anticipatory passer, one of the more efficient passers in the game, handles more of an offensive % than any other QB. Has never had a loaded wr corp. You're on an island on there and not in a good way.
Lamar Jackson's playoff stats: 6 games, 2-4 record, 57% passing, 6 TD's/6 INT's, 75.7 QB Rating, 6 Fumbles.
He's not an elite passer, he's literally a guy you have to scheme to make look good, which is why he annually has the fewest pass attempts in the NFL among active starters. If he was great at it, if he was "elite," they wouldn't limit his passing to protect him from himself. And please with the "weapons" talk, his weapons have been good if not great. He can't throw to small receivers because he isn't accurate, that's why larger WR's and TE's are his bread and butter. He is the direct reason they fail in the playoffs every season despite having one of the best rosters in the NFL. He saves his worst for last.
Like I said about him back pre-draft the year he was taken, a modern day Mike Vick. Looks great in the regular season against the dregs, great on Madden Football but will and fail miserably in the playoffs against the best defenses. If I was anymore accurate they would give me an award.
