Shoulder tackling or as you put it "use your body as a missile" is the most aggrivating thing to watch when your team's defense is doing it!

That "says it all"? I did play football. You are supposed to hit, not kind of dance with the RB. That's how the DBs like Gay tackle. They stop their momentum and reach out and try to dance the RB to the ground. If you don't get what I'm talking about...well that says it all.

The first thing they teach you is to HIT and not STOP YOUR MOMENTUM. Hit wrap lift drive. Run THROUGH the ball carrier. Did they ever teach you that? You didn't make it out of pee-wee? OK, that says it all, sorry.

I'm with you. I think Brady did that to help fire up his teammates The two games prior to this one lacked some intensity and fire, I like to think that, as the leader of this team, Brady was trying to rekindle it.

The only reason I read this thread was to point out the utter idiocy of this subject.

Let's all come to terms with the fact that these people (as others have pointed out) didn't reach the NFL by not being ultra competitive. Also the media hypocrisy is laughable as well. How many times have you seen Favre get in a LB's face or push a D-lineman? Only to have his actions praised (rightfully so, imo) but now the big, bad, classless etc..Patriots do it and suddenly it's beneath them.

I'm not big on taunting and dancing and all of that garbage. But I would much rather see that done on the field of play face-to-face than via the media.

I suppose you have a point, I think. If this Smith trash talked before the game (on the field, I think his comments to the media were taken out of context), then he is not the hapless schmuck I thought he was.

At first I didn't think Brady should have gotten into it with Smith, either.
But than I saw a replay. I mistakenly thought that Brady just started jawing on the guy but than the replay showed Tom turn his head quick, as if responding to an insult. No doubt. Smith said something to him. It wasn't nice.
Than the lb Harrison came in and bumped Brady from behind so Tom turned and said something to him, too while back peddling to his sideline.
It was at this point I think we were all wondering where our guys were with Tom, in what appeared to be a potentially dangerous situation. I did glimpse a Patriot walking in between the 2 steelers. I think it was either Welker or Faulk because I thought I saw a three on the Jersey and it was a smaller player.
So now I realize that Brady did do a good job of standing up to some thuggish trash talking from those ***holes. Smith was actually challenging for a duke out right there, it looked like to me.
Some how I have a feeling that this guy's career in this league is not for long.

Also, another thought. I think Rodney Harrison needs to teach Pats DBs how to tackle. You don't run up to the guy, stop, then reach out and bear hug him...you run up, use your body as a missile and take his legs out from under him. I saw Harrison give a couple devastating tackles like this...Samuel had a good one at the end of the game. Gay needs to learn this.

You need to watch a game. Look for #37 in a Patriots uni. That would be Harrison. Watch him tackle players.

If Harrison wrapped up the way you describe, HInes Ward would scored a TD.

How the hell were his comments taken out of context when it was on video? You can spin the "guarantee" to mean "if we play like we can" crap but that is NOT what pissed Brady off. The comments about ALREADY playing the best receivers, and the pats receivers are simply "good", is what pissed Brady off.
