Booing...where does fandom come into play?

I can't wait to see some of the rationalizations that the holier-than-thou types around here come up with for Vrabel's comments. Only one or two people even attempted to address Brady's 2006 remarks about booing (something along the lines of "Brady will always try to put a good face on things") Same with Vrabel?

Maybe Andy or Pats726 will say that Vrabel condones booing because he was once a Steeler ?!? Just joking, I'm sure you'll come up with something alot better (or worse) than that.

I would be LMAO if I wasn't so disappointed by some of the intolerance displayed around here regarding differences in opinion and freedom of expression. (oh, and I get it that just because one CAN do something doesn't mean that they should--that's what we have laws for).
That is all simple..it's his opinion..players have opinions..I will have mine..
BTW as usual what is said and expressed is totally turned around...but that is OK. I really have not seen posts where people have said one CAN NOT boo...or maybe I have missed something. Freedom of expression has NOTHING at all to do with it..but I guessed u missed that..It really has to do with those that boo and what that means and really what that shows about them. No one has said how booing in anyway supports the team..AND THAT is the crux of it..Is that what a FAN does?? SO a Miami fan who was at th game would boo the Patriots...and a ron of NE fans would do the same thing..does that make sense??
Booing shows a total LACK of support for the team..it's negative and being an anti-fan.
Yes..go boo all you want..but that fandom runs out of you with every boo. Less of a fan...

Some of those people who choose to express their displeasure will just as freely and readily express their happiness as well. Some of the loudest booers are also among the loudest cheerers btw.

Yeah, sort of like my infant nephew. What a coincidence! Take his toy away from him and he cries and throws a tantrum. Give the toy back and he laughs and smiles. Put a Pats jersey on him and he'd fit right in with those folks.

Tunescribe,
You just dont get it. Let me explain exactly what happened.

See, these Patriots, deep down, they are a lazy crew. They are prone to showing up to football games and not trying. They often don't guve effort, they just go through the motions. You know they are only football players and they aren't all that motivated to win. Us fans need to notice when they aren't trying hard, because even though they are pazy and don't really care, they OWE IT TO US to try their hardest and win. It's a shame that we care more than they do, but what do you want me to do about that? So when I catch them, I BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this lets them know that they've done a bad job of hiding their malingering, and that I expect them to win today, so they suck it up and start trying harder.

I thought everyone knew this is what the NFL was about.

At least you're honest... whether they give 75% 50% or 0% effort you're clear that there is never a reason to boo.

This team could boycott a game, sit down on the bench and refuse to play, and you would still decry those who booed, because as you say, there's never a reason to boo - it just has no positive value.

At least we now know you've gone beyond just being a fan and seem to have gotten swept up in some kindof cult.

That's one way to look at it. Everyone's opinion has equal weight.

Would you agree that Vrabel's and Brady's opinions are directly at odds with the side of the argument that you come down on?

its upsetting to me that we booed our players. it was one game. heck, even if we finished 7-9 this year i wouldnt boo. its tough to win without your best player, who happens to play the most important position on the field.
