Always had great respect for Drew and a player and person. Not surprised by his words. He's a class act. My only regret is that Drew's career didn't end on a higher note for him. I do hope he takes solace in knowing the greatest of all time replaced him here in Foxborough and a Brett Favre clone in Tony Romo replaced him in Dallas.

the six degree's of seperation of Drew Bledsoe, although I was a big fan of Bledsoe , he never worked hard here and if football was that important to him, he would be leading Dallas to the playoffs not Romo.. But Romo wanted it more and made Drew disappear in the Montana mist...

I do also think TO had alot to do with Bledsoe's fall from Dallas than Romo..

the one that really must hurt is the Buffalo situation he was replaced by JP Losman by a coach who lasted 2 years. He could have been the starter there this whole time he had 3 really good years in Buffalo and deserved better. Drew rebuilt this franchise and for that I will never say a bad word about anything he did football or otherwise. Without him we'd be rooting for the St. Louis Patriots

I'm not sure there's really any shame in being beat out by Brady and Romo for starting jobs, but it is an interesting side story.

The fact is, the game changed on Bledsoe as new blitzing schemes developed league-wide, and Bledsoe never adjusted. Then his skills deteriorated. Plus, Bledsoe started playing in 1992. He was beaten out by Romo in 2006 because well, Bledsoe at age 36 was AN OLD MAN. He held onto the ball too long. Not to mention he had a new offensive coordinatior almost every year. Two in the last years with Pete Carroll (remember Zampese?). Then Weis. Then two with the Bills. Then 2 with the Cowboys when Payton left. Jeez, the guy played with 7 different OCs in his last 8 years!!!

Good point. I have always been a Bledsoe fan - he's always handled adversity with class.

I remember excitedly attending his first training camp at Bryant. The QBs (one was Hugh Millen, IIRC), were warming up. Having never been to training camp before, they impressed me with their tight spirals and zip on the ball. Then Bledsoe came out of the Locker room with reporters in tow. When he started to warm-up, it seemed his throws were 2X faster and always landed in the receivers hands with a loud pop. I was an instant fan, it was like seeing superman vs. mortals.

I am not saying there is a lot of shame in it, Losman on the other hand.....

But if it winds up being Brady vs. Romo, I could see Bledsoe up in the booth or during the pre-game show doing an analysis in the similarities and differences in their QB style. He did mentor both of them.

By all accounts out of NE, Buff and Dal, he would be an excellent choice for QB coach/OC down the road.

Why do folks assume a family guy like Bledsoe who NEVER spent off season at Foxboro would want to be QB coach or OC? A guy worth TENS of millions who works 7 day weeks, 12 hour days?

I have always like Drew and always wished him the best when he left. Personally, I think him talking out a full ad in the Boston Globe when he was traded away show a lot of class that most players don't have.

Yes, he always seem to turn the ball over in a key moment or take a sack but at the end of the day he was one of the major reason this franchise is no longer the doormat of the NFL.

I can not say enough how much I admire and respect Drew Bledsoe. He is, in my opinion, a hall of famer. A good man, and a very very very good quarterback. He saved the patriots for new england, and was part of two superbowl teams.. he is a champion. and by everything i've ever seen or read a classy, kind and decent gentleman. I'm really proud that he was a patriot.

How do you know that he did not work hard. Maybe not Brady-hard, but is that the only standard?

I never doubted Bledsoe was a good guy. I was quite critical of Bledsoe's performance at times, and I believe he and Grier were more responsible for the Pats decliing after Parcells left than Peter Carroll was.

I did not question his heart or work ethic, which I think is a dangerous assumption.

If every QB who was smart worked as hard as Tom Brady, would they be as good as TB? I doubt it.

Good guy, good QB. But no way he should be in the HoF. Vinny Testaverde should go before Drew does, and I do not think he should either.

Im sorry but a part of me will always love bledsoe. He was a very good QB and a class act. He was also tough as nails. Oh yeah and he takes a share in saving the franchise.

ALl of Bledsoe's problems stemmed back to one key fact: He was immobile. He was a hard worker. He did read defenses well. He did make good decisions. He didnt hold the ball too long. He was just so FRICKIN immobile that sometimes it looked like all those things were true. In my book he was a ten in all areas except mobility, where on an NFL scale he was a 0. This made him a very good player with one key flaw that sometimes made him look bad. Protect him ,and he was great.
