Bill Belichick Is Done With Microsoft Tablets

Let me know when the video game platform wars start!

The more I think about it I am surprised Bill opened his mouth about the tablets. I would have thought he would just quietly stop using them and use the old fashioned method. He opened his mouth for a reason, he knows the NFL has a huge deal with MS. I just don't really know what the reason is.
They probably won't let him. It's either the surface or nothing.

It's not just the tablets. It's all the tech that the Patriots use that is League-provided and maintained.

If BB were being treated by the League with the respect he (more than) deserves, he'd be able to go to them and say: This is unacceptable. Provide us with tech that works and the support to make sure it is working when we really need it.

As it is, they're not doing that and he's royally frustrated.

(This has been another episode of the long-running Soap Opera: NYJFL* versus the Patriots.)

I agree.

I think it's simple as to hes fed up with the communications systems and the Surfaces not being reliable and it's mucking up his and his coach's ability to do their jobs.

While I do think he enjoys spanking the league wonks I don't think he intended to do it this time. In fairness the NFL game day techies are just trying to do their jobs. The problem is that they are set up for failure by their bosses.

Michelle Doyle is a visionary. She needs a good tech ops person.

If you choose your printer wisely, you don't need to do anything, as the driver will either already be in the Linux kernel, or the package will be installed by default in the distribution you are using.
.. But wouldn't the flux capacitor interfere with flow of the neutrons from stratamier isotopes?

Just use a Mr Fusion and throw some banana peels and a beer can in there. Then there won't be a problem.

Typical Bill. Just read that he announced he is a grandaddy and on the same day he goes on a 5min rant on gameday tech issues.

Always has an eye on the prize.

This is the core issue behind it. The user isn't the customer, so the provider doesn't really care. The NFL is a cr*pshow of a business, consistently structuring relationships so that their rules and procedures have to run the show, rather than natural self interest and workflows. And when things go wrong, rather than learn something from it, they double down on their mistakes.

Linux is already running the corporate world behind the scenes. You may not notice it, because they don't really need it to be running on their employees' systems, but their servers are likely running on Linux. There was a study not too long ago that revealed that about 90% of Fortune 500 companies rely on Linux in some way.

A lot of big trading firms, including the one where I work, that push an obscene amount of money, use Linux for their trading systems.

Yea for huge business to run application servers its mostly done on Linux and in Oracle databases, but that is a totally different universe compared to your average joe citizen's end-point device

He just wants to eff with Herr Goodell? Actually he probably didn't like the system and didn't feel like playing nice in saying so.

Isn't this actually a nice little occasional game advantage for the Pats?

If they totally ditch the NFL-E-systems, and revert back to printouts and hand signals to the point they are second nature like the olden days, it should be competition beneficial. When the opposing teams hardware inevitable glitches out.

#1 NE won't have to change their system (turn helmets and computers off) to accommodate and match the opposing team, instead just keep rolling along old skool as they have all game.

#2 The opposing team will obviously have to continue to fight thru the tech issues, trying to fix them as well as going back to a manual system they are not nearly as practiced or proficient in as NE will be.

I like the move actually.

Perfect time for Apple to swoop in and hire an authentic pitch man. Stick it to the man...BB....stick it to the man

Linux doesn't have the wide market support needed to support a corporate environment.

Unless you're in the tech industry.

He might just be an old school guy that likes the old fashioned way of doing things - so what if he doesn't like using them?

I'm not sure he even realizes how much money Microsoft paid for the glorified "product placement" of their crappy tablets. Bill just laid giant turd all over the Microsoft/NFL partnership which is hilarious. Hopefully Goodell's dogs won't be sniffing around Foxboro as a result though.

The tablets were always optional. They can go back to hard copy photographs at any time (which I am sure they already have).

Surfaces may not be ideal for football coaching but I have one for work and I love it
