But HC, Belichick 'accepted their invitation' because he feels it will give him "a different perspective on the Super Bowl". Sounds like he's actually looking forward to it, which means it could be fun.

Wouldn't you be bummed out if you miss one of his knee-slappin' rib-ticklers?

It's okay, TSD, more Bill for the rest of us!

This is what I think will happen though, I will call her on Monday and tell her about what he said and how cute he looked and that he smiled twice and she will wish she had watched it. I wonder if she has a friend nice enough to DVR the pregame???

I feel lousy about this whole thing with BB.

It's almost like ....."Oh well Bill, your team wasn't good enough to be here this year so why don't you join us and critique the Superbowl they were supposed to be in."

You and Bella*Chick have fun watching our Bill "do his thing" but I'm sitting this one out.
Aw, HC, I really don't think they care whether or not Bill's team is in the SB to throw him the "Well, come and commentate then!" bone. I think if anything they want the perspective of one of (and I think THE) greatest coaches of all time, especially with all his recent SB experience. BB could have said no, but it seems he wanted to do it and so he is.

I don't view it as any sort of consolation prize.

Sounds like I need to get you a room at Heartbreak Hotel, the offcial SB HQ of me. Everyone is invited, just go down the end of Lonesome St, you can't miss it.

OMG, on PTI Tony and Mike were talking about this. Tony took the "He's boring" stand while Mike said what we all know, that he's quite the cutup when he's not behind a podium talking about his own team. Wilbon has had dinner with Bill Belichick and it seems he was duly impressed with Bill's off-the-field personality.

UGH.....probably old news, but I just caught PTI on ESPN2 and they were talking about BB on the pre-game. Apparantly Wilbon has had dinner with him and thinks he is smart and funny. He said BB will do a good job. Kornheiser thinks he is boring and this is a bad idea also that he looks like a homeless guy in that hoodie.....

One thing for sure: if BB starts breaking down film of the Steelers or 'Hawks on the air, the coaches will start watching the pregame from the locker room

Does anyone know if he will be on the ESPN coverage starting at 11AM or the ABC coverage starting at 2:30 PM, or both?

ESPN, isn't it? Both would be a conflict of interest, sort of.

No. ABC owns ESPN and they have done joint things in the past.

Anyone know if Belichick is likely to be on from the start of coverage (8 a.m. Pacific)? I have to get the business going on Sunday morning, probably don't get home until 9:30 or so. Thanks in advance.

It appears as if he will be doing the ABC pre game starting at 2:30PM. I went to the ABC Sports site which is really the ESPN site.

I clicked on the Super Bowl coverage and got nothing of any value. You would think that they would have a more detailed info on their programming, as this is the biggest event of the year.

Oh, hey that'd be just right (11:30 my time). A good time to start watching the festivities (not too early) without going brain dead by kickoff.
With every new day that dawns this no-Patriots-in-the-SB this year is like going through a 12 step program or something, . I hope they resume their rightful place in the game again next year. They better. :enranged:

After serious consideration and reading the insightful replies to my earlier post.......and not to mention the fact that I'm having painful BB withdrawls...... I've decided to watch the pre-game show on Sunday.

Thank you.
HC

I knew you would come around. How could you possibly stay away from BB on TV?

Now, make sure you have plenty of screen cleaner handy so you can wash the lipstick form the TV screen every once and a while. :singing:

Just think of the feeling of pride that you will have knowing that she'll be spending her Sunday afternoon saying words of endearment to a TV screen.
