Maybe. It doesn't hurt. But BB passed on Clay Matthews and Cameron Jordan, among others.

Woah. What's the takeaway? Athleticism is a genetic trait. Crazy.

I don't know about the "athletic bloodlines" part...it stands to reason that elite athletes tend to come from athletic families, I image you'd find that on every team.

But I have always had the impression that BB likes guys who grew up in football families -- steeped in the game from birth, as he was himself. It's part of the well-established "football is important to him" criterion.

For instance, I think that Ryan Mallett being the son of a coach is an underappreciated factor. For all his much-reported flaws, Mallett is a football lifer.

Not nearly as much.

Gronk and Chandler Jones alone belong to two of the most athletic families in America.

Agree. Just knowing a player grew up in a football family and that its important to them. They are in for the long haul and won't quit once they get a pay check

Ninkovich isn't even Russian. He's Croatian.

Presumably when his family emigrated, someone (possibly an immigration agent at Ellis Island) decided that a name ending with a "ch" sound shouldn't end with a "c," and changed it to "ch."

Hmm...Peyton & Eli Manning, Clay & Casey Matthews, Kellen Winslow II, Mark Ingram and Chris Long all come immediately to mind, and I'm sure there are a great many more.

I don't think they are actually related

They aren't AFAIK.

Ive been a Jon Bones Jones fan for a few years and never heard of any relation to Deacon Jones.

Basically, 1 guy said it on PatsFans and everyone believed him and ran with it.

I haven't seen any credible source that has confirmed it. So its Bull**** as far as Im concerned.

I heard it on the radio on draft day, I think that's where the rumor started

TOM BRADY :
SON: BENJAMIN future QB of the NEPatriots
SON: JOHN F B future WR for the NEP :rocker::rocker:

Hernandez father was a player, and his brother coaches qb's at Brown..

there are a few more than those listed..

It is more than a coincidence.. it is a trend.

Marshall Faulk and Kevin Faulk are second cousins. But I know that is stretching it a bit.
