Bill Belichick called former Patriots team chaplain Jack Easterby a “very valuable” member of the organization when he was in New England, but he indicated Monday that he’s surprised by Easterby’s present role as interim general manager of the Houston Texans.

Easterby, who has held the position since early October, isn’t someone the Patriots head coach envisioned holding such a position.

Jack’s not a personnel person, no,” Belichick said.

Well I'm sure that ringing endorsement would give Texans fans a lot of confidence.

Eh, most of the NE personnel guys who go elsewhere flop... maybe this is a Contanza-Like move on the part of Cal McNair... Zigging instead of zagging... that sort of thing...

thats all I got...

Guy's a brilliant politician.

Chaplain to GM.
I bet he despises the chaplain label.

Reminiscent of BB's..... "Who's been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins?"

Caserio is, though. He should go to Houston to replace Easterby.

Amazing a guy whose job was to be chaplain and cheerful to everyone became a general manager. Actually that's insane. Zero chance Caserio goes there.

This is the first I'm hearing of this possibility!

Just a real horror show over there. Obrien torched that franchise to the ground while planting salt in the foundation on the way out.

Really hoping Caserio goes there and enjoys giving Miami that high pick. Just an awful franchise in a big hole over stubborn, hard headrd, ego driven coach.

Which is why he suddenly saw a hefty pay raise over the summer in the form of a "contract extension."

Unfortunately, the Giants are now in the mix.

I’m not so sure that’s unfortunate.

I've said it before and I'll say it again even though it's not especially relevant: anyone who has such a high opinion of their own character that it becomes a job title ("character coach") is very far up their own ass.

I dunno. We'll see if he can draft WR and TE's better than BB in the next couple of years.
