As others have pointed out, the source is from the Jets. BB was outright insulting when talking about Woodie and the Jets. He would not do that if there was any chance that he could join the team. This is just the Jets being the JETE.

Different versions out there: one is that Mike Lombardi ("Belichick's camp") contacted the Jete on BB's behalf via due diligence and the other claiming BB contacted Tannenbaum because of a supposed connection they have.

So, apparently, "something" happened between BB's world and the Jete re. their coaching vacancy. Which I didn't believe at first and now am thoroughly disgusted.

I thought he was just kicking the tires with the Jets but if what Breer said is true it was more than that…

I still suspect that IF either side was serious something should have happened, the UNC thing notwithstanding. I just have a hard time buying the idea that Woody actually would've hired BB after all Bill has said about him, not only recently but over years.

But perhaps BB was intrigued by the Jete GM job also being open, thinking he could call the shots there as well if hired.

Woody really needs a win and honestly his legacy with Jets fans would be much better if he had some story of making amends with the one who got away and potentially delivering a Super Bowl together. It changes the entire legacy of Woody. I could absolutely see it being considered. Worst case scenario for Woody, he gets the satisfaction of turning Bill down if he doesn't like what he's hearing.

Report I saw somewhere online last night was that BB reached out to Tanenbaum and was told yes the Jets would be interested in talking to him, but we’re going to start a thorough process beginning in January. So Bill decided not to wait around for that dumpster fire.
