Assuming it is an ACL...read on

Being from Australia and Aussie Rules fan as well as being a Patriots fan, it started me thinking. Assuming it is what most fear and ACL damage, there is something that may be done about this.

The rigours of AFL is such that ACL's unfortunately are torn on a regular basis with the nature of speed and blind turning in the game. Just this weekend, a Geelong (premiership favourites and defending champions) player Brent Prismall in the finals series over here appears to have done his ACL in an innocuous movement. Earlier this season, Sydney defender Nick Malceski ruptured his ACL. This is where the story becomes interesting.

Conventional ACL repair treatment takes between 9 months to 12 months. Sydney sent Nick off for radical surgery by a French revolutionary (althougth highly topical treatment), where the ACL is repaired with a synthetic liagment, cutting his rehab time from 9-12 months, to just 3 months.

Given AFL rigours are somewhat more pressing that that of Quarterback play, this could be an option the Patriots may see as sufficient. I will forward this onto the Patriots administration for their thoughts if the outcome is as expected.

It's a nice thought, but if it's risky at all I'm sure they'd rather dump the season than risk the quality of the rest of his career.

My understanding is that it has been highly topical in the states amongst scholarly types.. because it is performed by a Frenchmen.. and let's face it.. who likes the French

I don't see how he could have possibly broken a bone. The injury wasn't impact-related, he twisted his leg. Can bone break from a twist??

Yeah. I rather we'd stick with Cassel for the rest of the year instead of sacrificing Brady's health for the rest of his career.
