Article: Moss Viking stories leaking out...

Hmmm.....a HOF WR now heading for his 5th team. Naaaah, this type of boorish behavior can't be true.

I don't know if I believe any of this . . . just seems like a made up story to me.

Who's leaking this stuff?? Nice to know that it's not just Boston teams that slime the players they want to be rid of.

It's a different sport, but Cliff Lee is pitching for his fourth team in two years.

Yep, Randy's got a history, but Childress has a pretty shoddy operation out there. I'm not going to buy into any of the media claptrap that is going to come out in the next few days. Just look at all the stupid headlines making their way around when Moss got traded out of New England.

I think I'll take this story with an extra large grain of salt (no pun intended) and wish Randy well in his future endeavors, which I doubt will be with the Patriots.

This.

Randy is capable of boorish behavior (see the Kraft sponsors event and RMs behavior highlighted in the Gasper piece) but the antics articulated in the piece are over the line. He may have made an off-handed remark about the ribs but pacing down the isle and criticizing the food is something out of the movie "Patton".

Oh look, another story to trash Moss that everyone here will lap up.

Matt Birk, who leaked similar, over-embellished stories about Moss being a 'cancer' to the media in Moss' first stint with the Vikings in an attempt to drive him out of town, is mentioned in the story. In a completely unnecessary and casual way, considering he's not even with the team anymore. Suspicious?

LOL!

I don't think this is entirely true either (meaning it's out there like "Tom looks like a girl" got out there) but I also don't think Moss is a perfectly behaved person who just happens to be mistreated everywhere he goes.

I mean, if you honestly believe that (and many still do) I REALLY think you are living in some kind of total denial.

eta: the "you" wasn't directed at you, robertweathers, just a general "you".

I'm with ya.

There was an article last year mentioninf Moss was interested in pursuing NASCAR/truck racing.

As such, this hardly sounds like someone who suddenly went haute' and demands French cruisine. The Birk angle sounds a lil suspect.

Unfortunately, there is enough similar behavior from Moss in the past that we can't fully dismiss this.

We also don't know what causes Moss' outbursts; people are wired differently. Some people have neurological wiring that makes it virtually impossible for them to suppress negative emotion when under the slightest stress. It's like insisting that everyone walk up stairs - some people are in wheelchairs and just don't have use of their legs.

All of Moss's issues over the years could be essentially a medical problem, not a character or effort problem. We just can't know from this distance.

The other players may sense this - that he is doing his best and has challenges greater than theirs, and that's why they rally around him, like Brady does.

I was at a high school sporting event this weekend, and a call went against a team that infuriated the head coach to the point where this coach went psycho....tossing chairs over fences, punching walls, verbally abusing anyone that was in his line of vision. He berated the school AD for hiring a certain official. His actions were so beyond his normal "in control" personna that we all wondered what was really going on. Then we found out one of his former athletes had died this week and he had given the eulogy that day...and apparently broke down sobbing....an aweful week that finally reached its tipping point.
My point, we are all human and personal issues often collide with professional responsibilities.

That's brilliant, man. I'm so pleased to see this on a football board. I just sat through the 12 episode, all in once-monthly installments, of The Charlie Rose Brain Series. He had the best scientists & psychologists explaining the behavioral brain. They educate so much about neurology and environment. Thing is, people are individuals and it's a crock when others try to fit everybody into the same behavioral cookie cutter expectations.
All that,"Well, I, ME, I have to do this, so you should have to as well." or "I didn't have a problem going through this, so you have no excuse."

Good thing Randy isn't a woman, because then, we'd NEVER have reasons for Randy's behavior. lol.

That food issue about him complaining and saying he wouldnt give this to his dog may be true. i'm listening to WEEI sports radio now and they are interviewing someone from Minnesota (i believe) and he mentioned that allegedly, this happened and it played a role in him being waived.

This makes no sense. BTW, he does own a racing team

Every time I hear this story I think of the Seinfeld episode with Frank Costanza going off on his wife's cooking...."These eggs suck!"

Part of me is wondering if Moss' agent didn't leak this story. What team is going to want to take on what's left of his 3.5 million contract if he's this much of a headache... Then he's free to sign where he wants..

I am sure this happened. Also, I am sure Tom Brady and Randy Moss came to blows over Tom's haircut.

:yeahthat:

The media was posting some unbelievable crap after Moss was traded to the Vikes. But everyone on the team treated him like nothing ever happened when he returned this weekend.

In times after a trade or roster move strange rumors get passed around, people stretch the truth a little, the pressed gets played, etc. It's what the press and the fans do and it's as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning.

Well said. Brady's response (the deep sigh followed by no comment) is likely a reflection of his deep concern for the friend going forward IMO. I think teamates for the most part admire the talent and under normal circumstances enjoy the personality. That said, those in denial here (and even among his past teamates) about the cumulative draining effect of the bad/emotional Randy episodes over time are just wishful thinkers. There were certainly those on this team who to varying degrees had kinda had it with the balancing act tradeoff position Randy increasingly put them in. And apparently not all Vikings were overjoyed in the wake of his arrival. Winning 18 in a row buys you lots of good will he wasn't going to benefit from in Eden Prairie.

This piece from one of the Vikings beat guys seems to substantiate Silver's account.

It's all about ego on both sides of the equation. It will be interesting to see who the next fool is who thinks he has the cache to handle Randall... Reportedly Shannihan is considering entering the fray (LOL) as is Fisher following the loss of Britt... Houston might also be a contender given Kubiak seems intent on throwing the ball.

Childress gets his way, but will there be a price? | StarTribune.com

Excellent, didn't take long for our resident psychologist to come in and throw for free his stunning analysis of "Randall" and Brady's sigh, did it?

Wish you get back to posting your awesome football analysis and stop this constant nitpicking of ex-Pats players you don't like under threads with stories that may or may not be true.

As an experienced and reputed member of this board, you can add much value and knowledge on the game and what's going on in the field, both with the Pats and other teams. Hope you reconsider.

Randy responds well to a disciplined smart coach. Belichick is everything Chilly is not. Moss knows a loser when he sees it and he saw it in Childress. I am interested to know where he will end up. Like some, I also think this could be his agent putting out stories. Or they may be true, partly true. Don't know and I don't really care. I wish Randy the best.
