Are we still trying to land Metcalf?

Finally the type of WR this team needs 5 years ago.

Physical 6' - 4" 235 lbs. Relatively healthy and 1000 yard seasons are the norm.

I heard Packers are the favorite if he moves.
One year left on his desk would have to sell him on the Patriots and the area.
Vrabel the pitch man.

Would you part with a third for him a second?

If he agrees to an extension than absolutely

If the Packers’ first rounder is on the table like this guy thinks, then I think we can safely rule out the Pats.
What about a second this and next year?
Honestly for that I’d rather grab Higgins.

Probably not enough unless the Seahawks are willing to assume the Pats will be bad again next season

Agreed, with the rumored 1st and wicks or doubs
I am surprised seahawks didnt jump on it

Metcalf is the kind of receiver they need, a field stretcher. He’d be the guy I’d focus on as a trade target.

Seattle also is underwater some in the cap department but they get some relief next offseason so they’re not too bad off. It depends on their desire to extend him a new deal, do they think they’re rebuilding or ready to compete now?

As far as his desire to play in NE a big bag of money can fix that fast, plus Vrabel/Maye looks like a better option than a year ago.

Metcalf is the perfect solution to what ails the Pats. Just four problems - making Metcalf financially happy, selling him on the team, and selling him on region, and trade comp to Seattle.

The first two shouldn’t be a big deal. Trade comp will depend on what other teams offer. The biggest sticking point is most likely selling him on living in the area. I’m not sure why he has a negative opinion specifically, as it could be many factors. If it’s the taxes, that can be resolved with a higher contract. If it’s the idea of living specifically in Foxboro - he can possibly be sold on living in RI which is more popular. Some other players can also help pitch it. If his options are here or Green Bay Wisconsin, I don’t really know why here would be any less desirable…

That tweet was Jan 24, 2025, so a few weeks after Vrabel was hired. Don't know the date of the interview.
That’s discouraging, but a lot of Green and a franchise QB could alter that train of thought.

Although I wouldn't say that getting Metcalf this offseason is impossible, I deem it highly unlikely.

Find out if he likes Italian food, if he does send him the name of every restaurant in the Northend.

Build out the OL first. We have been obsessed with the WR position since Terry Glenn departed, but the Pats need to focus on the basics first. The WR is the cherry on top.

I look at it this way. If Randy Moss can't save a bad Raiders team, Metcalf isn't going to be the savior for the Pats.
