So there is really no other FA WR in his class. Doubs is a nice complimentary piece, but not really what we need.
So….., this should only heighten the AJ trade talks, or we target a WR very early, no later than the second, and maybe even first rd.
I don’t think AJ is worth more than a 2nd based on contract/age, but likely won’t get a deal done.
I would hate to give up a 1st.

I get some injuries need to calm down a little before surgery or that guys try and push thru the pain during the offseason hoping they don't need surgery...but come on.

Some of these guys clearly wait til the last minute to avoid practice

I'm inclined to believe something already is agreed upon as schefter isn't going to just say this just to say it.. there's something to this... A deal is likely already in place & agreed upon for June 1st or thereafter. We'll know more this week for sure I'd imagine. On doubs while he may not be prercieved in a top 10 wr listing he's in that next tier.. he excels in man coverage, great hands, runs every route, blocks week and makes contested catches at 6'2 he strong, big and physical... yeah.. give me those types of guys all day.

This obsession with receivers is baffling. The WR is at this point far from the team's worst problem. We are distorting our perception of the team's needs and thus of its approach to the off-season with this silly grasping at shiny objects. A "proven" WR is an old receiver - it takes time to "prove" yourself, and with every year of proven ability, a player is another year older. The math here is inexorable. WR should find it place in the hierarchy of team needs and our approach should be based on that analysis. The emphasis overall at this stage in the team's rebuild should be strongly on draft-and-develop, rather than on wasting time and resources on fanboys' pipe dreams.
