About the ball intercepted by the Colts

It just hit me that the readings on the ball intercepted by the Colts are the most accurate to compare against. the ball was still outside when measured and you do not have to worry about how long balls were in officials room at halftime, etc. It was also the ball the convinced league officials that there was foul-play afoot. Finally, since it was intercepted there could be no doubt that this ball was actually in the game.

For example, using the most likely pressure and temperature values for the Patriots game balls on the day of the AFC Championship Game (i.e., a starting pressure of 12.5 psig, a starting temperature of between 67 and 71°F and a final temperature of 48°F prior to the balls being taken back into the Officials Locker Room), these equations predict that the Patriots balls should have measured between 11.52 and 11.32 psig at the end of the first half, just before they were brought back into the Officials Locker Room.

This shows that the most accurate recording of the psi of a Pats ball in 100% in line with what Wells says it should be.

sure, absolutely --- it also shows that the tools used and conditions under which they were used did not allow for reliable measurements to a tenth of a psi.
I think people get a little nutty with this talking about measurements to the hundredth like that means something when you have 2 tools measuring a half pound apart, no controlling the environmental conditions, and a single ball with 3 measurements, 2 of which are nearly a half pound apart.

these guys really aren't getting anything meaningful under about a half pound accuracy, and this is pretty consistent with the history of it.
when you fill your tires with air does anybody measure down to the tenths of a pound?

the craziness of all this is that even if you assume the worst case of the 2 gauges used pregame I think the pats haters are claiming some guy absconded with a bag of balls and snuck off to some bathroom to let 3/10ths of a pound of air out of a dozen balls, like even brady would notice that difference, prior to a game in which the temp would drop the psi in everybody's balls a pound and a half.

to believe this kind of nonsense you'd either have to basically just hate the pats, and blot out any kind of common sense or rationality, or you're one of those people who send their bank info to nigeria.
