A little heads up (PFW in Progress)

Interesting how you word this, since he hasn't even officially been put on the regular season PUP yet. This is a none story, until Jackson is infact put on the IR, which I'm not sure he will be. I think NE intends to put him on the regular season PUP, then if needed activate him in-season.

I've been saying for awhile that Jackson's been working his butt off in Foxboro all offseason, and has really been making an effort to get on the field this season. I'd be a little annoyed if I thought I was ready to go (after putting in so much work) but the team was holding me back just to play it safe. if he really believes he's ready to go and he passes the Doctors seal than put him out there.

I was only reporting what Perillo said on the show. Which is the possibility of the Pats putting Jackson on IR for the season....and if so, would file the grievance, because he is in fact ready to practice.

The Pats have a team option on Moss? I thought it was just a straight one year deal?
You're right. Stallworth and Washington. We get the first chance to do a multi year deal with him, though, as no-one else can until the end of the season.

Exactly!

I like how a rumor spreads about something Jackson might do if something happens, and all of a sudden it turns into crap on Chad Jackson day.

Exactly....Perillo started off by saying it was only a rumor. If you want the tone of his voice and context...you should listen to the show when you have the chance. The podcast will be up later on today.

I also didn't want this to turn into a trash Chad Jackson session.

I still have faith in him as a player for this team.

I think we will find that Jackson has been placed already on reserve PUP..that this was done before camp. With all the players IN camp, they had to reduce themselves by two..thus Chad and Eddie Jackson were placed on Reserve PUP; thus not counted in the roster count.
Bad move by Chad and his agent..shows a LOT of immaturity and may buy himself a one way ticket out of town. No..don't trash him..the rumor was started some way..by some one for some purpose..a trial balloon. I say blast it out of the water. Maybe if concentrated on getting his head into film study instead of filiing a grievenace..I would think more about it. Give back the money you stole Chad.. Maybe Casale was right about him??

Ah, Perillo just said that a Patriots source said Moss to the Patriots has been as seamless as possible and don't give ANY thought to it not working out.

Reports on Moss keep getting better everyday. Was there really ever a doubt? I was on the Moss train from jump. He looked great when I was there on Friday....and seems to be building that all important chemistry with Brady. I'm stoked

The comment that got my attention was the one about Tedy B to wit; he's 2 steps behind anyone he tries to cover. Looks like he's a run-only 2 down LB now and has to come out on obvious passing downs.

Colvin and AD of course have the speed to cover and maybe even Seau. Not too sure about Vrabel but he usually rushes the passer anyway. Maybe they play to put Alexander or even Woods outside on third and more than 2 to go. Then they can slide AD inside with Seau.

Forget Alexander.

Vrabel and Colvin outside. Thomas and Seau inside on passing downs - although in longer passing downs like 3rd & 5 or more there's usually an extra DB and only 3 LB anyway.

I admit I'm a little saddned by the observances of Tedy in coverage. At 34 its inevitable that he slows down. I know, it's whats best for the team that he comes out on 3and 5. I just hope he doesnt get to the point of embarrassing himself.

.

My gut says that it's a trial balloon from his agent, David Canter (IIRC) to see how it floats. Canter was the agent for Todd Sauerbrun when he challenged the contract provision vis a vis the Broncos, so there's a history there, albeit not a great one.
Canter also represented the last Damien Nash and reps Stephen Davis, Troy Williamson, Willie Offord (Minn) , Eric Weddle (SD) and DeShawn Wynn (GB) and others but that's all a quick gogle search could find. According to the NFLPA, he has negotiated 17 contracts , so he's no neophyte wrt contracts.

Tedy's two steps behind the receiver in which context? One-on-one drills? Skeleton drills? 11-on-11? If you read the four accounts below only Casale's uses phrasing that suggests Bruschi might have struggled with the coverage, and even that didn't come across with much negativity.

Many teams like smaller, faster linebackers because a RB/LB match-up favors the RB in today's NFL. Eric Alexander is the team's smallest LB at 240, and he is a heavyweight compared to many of the guys being drafted for 4-3 defenses.

Linebackers in BB's 3-4 tend to play zone, if Hobbs was help over-top in the situation below, then Tedy was probably playing underneath zone trying to force the QB to put the ball in the "gap" over the top of his head and under Hobbs' coverage. I don't know if I'll be bored enough to go listen to PFW in Progress for myself, but as long as there is a single remark critical of his coverage from the PFW crew I'll withhold dressing in mourning clothes for Tedy.

3) Play of the day. Kevin Faulk's skills in the passing game have been well documented, and when he lined up as an outside receiver, linebacker Tedy Bruschi followed him. Quarterback Tom Brady decided to go toward that matchup, lofting a beautiful pass to Faulk down the left sideline for a completion. Bruschi had over-the-top help on the play -- and it's possible it could have resulted in an incompletion in a game situation -- but Faulk was able to gather in the pass.

It’s been said before, but Kevin Faulk really does have receiver skills when he gets downfield. In skeleton drills, Faulk ran a wheel route down the left sideline and adjust to catch a ball dropped right over his head, with Tedy Bruschi on his inside hip and Ellis Hobbs over the top to his outside. Faulk pressed the ball to his chest, braced for the collision and stumble out of bounds while holding on to the ball.

Tom Brady hit a streaking Kevin Faulk deep down the sideline with a perfect throw. Faulk caught the pass between Tedy Bruschi and Ellis Hobbs. Faulk beat Bruschi down the field and Hobbs made a poor play not going after the ball.

Play of the Day
RB Kevin Faulk's 25-yard catch in traffic
Faulk made a spectacular catch, with two defenders draped on him, as he raced down the left sideline, directly in front of the spectator stands. Tom Brady dropped the ball where only Faulk could catch it, and Faulk was leveled as soon as he touched the ball, but held on as he fell out of bounds. Fans roared in approval.

I am listening to it right now and I can't believe how bleak they sound.

They are ripping on everyone. Bruschi, Vrabel, Alexander, James, Stallworth, Sanders, Washington, Anam, Gaffney, Watson, Brown, Gay, Caldwell--my god, this is making me depressed. They're making it sound like they suck.

With this helpful post I will take a pass on Training Camp depression. Thanks zippo, your sacrifice may lead to life long therapy, but you spared me and I am grateful! :rocker:

1) That's been obvious ever since the AFCC.
Another example: when Jeff Saturday recovered Rhodes'(?) fumble in the endzone for a TD, the 2004 Bruschi would have ripped the ball from his hands, plus maybe a finger or two.

2) I don't think Alexander is playing OLB for the NEP. His best chance to make the 53, besides injuries, is as a backup ILB w/ coverage responsibilities. I really wish that we had better options for backup ILB instead of him, or Mays, or Izzo. Oscar Lua, come on down...

He should worry about learning pass patterns and this offensive which he evidently cannot do, not to mention getting and staying healthy, something else he cannot do.

I would say if any grievance should be filed - it would be New England against him for taking money from the team with NO CONTRIBUTION. Highway robbery - I wish I could go to work every day, not produce and get paid as he has.

This guy is not long for this team....

How do you KNOW he can't learn passing patterns? His two previous coaches have both stated that it takes Jackson some time to learn routes. Usually his 2nd year.

How do you know that he can't stay healthy? The Patriots ADMITTED to rushing him back too soon from his hamstring injury. And it was a freak injury that he tore his ACL.

You act like he wasn't contributing last year and he was. He was doing exactly what the coaches told him to do. And, by all accounts, doing very WELL at it.

What are you talking about? How is it a bad move by Jackson? How do you even know its Jackson or his agent that started the rumor?

Jackson wants to play and prove himself. As any player does. If he's healthy, then the Pats IRing him would be against the CBA and a the grievance would be justified.

This garbage about Jackson "stealing" money is just plain LAUGHABLE. How do you know he's NOT been doing film study? Because Tom Casale said so? Like Casale would actually know anything about how much time Jackson is spending in the team film room.

As Jackson's high school and college coaches have stated in previous interviews, it would take Jackson until his 2nd full season to understand the plays and such even with putting in more film time than others. Why would that change now?

Why is it that people insist on ignoring the things Jackson DID do last year. Like playing special teams, which is where the team purposely used him. And like on run blocking?

The Pats do NOT have a team option on Moss. Only on Stallworth and Gaffney, unless something changed overnight.
I know, I was corrected and stated as such.

It's a Boston thing now. Apparently, you can't be objective unless you're constantly crapping all over the team. It's embarrassing, like some rich brat complaining about the cost of maintainig all five of his Ferrari's. Oh, and GOD FORBID you actually call them on it, or suddenly you're just a hapless hopeless thin-skined whiny homer who can't stand to hear the slightest bit of negativity on the Pats.

It's got so bad you actually hear comments like "look, they'll win the division easily, I'm just saying this is a suspect team" It's almost like those Dallas fans after the SB saying crap like "well, you won your three SB's by only 3 points each so that's not really that impressive."

Really, it's amazing how spoiled and memory-less these guys get. My favorite lapse of memory right now is the whole "this will be the first time they can't play the disrespect card" thing. Huh? In 2004, the Pats were the returning SB champs, got even stronger with Corey Dillion that offseason, and then proceeded to continue the win streak to 21 games! We're they really playing the disrespect card that spring?
