A couple Gostkowski articles

One from the Worcester Telegram (which stops at "What a remarkable transition"):

There were 87 players listed on the Patriots roster when training camp opened Friday. Only one of them was a kicker.

That would be Stephen Gostkowski, who is only competing with himself as the Patriots prepare for the upcoming season. That’s the kind of confidence the New England brass has in Gostkowski, who is coming off one of the most remarkable rookie seasons in NFL history.

Not that Gostkowski’s helmet has gone up a size in the offseason.

And an AP article from the Herald:

"“Last year I had no idea what to expect,” Gostkowski said. “I was brand new. Now I have a year under my belt, but I still feel like I have to prove myself every day. I haven’t been here that long where I can feel comfortable. They have 10 guys on a phone list if something happens to me."

Of course, everyone seems to be ignoring the possibility of conversations like this:

Gostkowski: "Hey, Wes."
Welker; "Hey, Steve. You sure you don't want to take a rest?"
Gostkowski: "No, Wes. I just started. And aren't you supposed to be catching passes with Tom?"
Welker: "Well, after catching 15 in a row, Coach gave me a few minutes to rest." [overly eager] "So you sure you don't need a rest?"
Gostkowski: "Yeah."
Welker: "OK." [walking away] "d%#*!@t."
