2026 Draft: LT

DTs are good, too!

Caleb Banks

"The Pats doubled up on offensive line in the draft, selecting Caleb Banks and Kaleb Proctor."

I would be shocked if Proctor stuck at LT in the NFL. I've kept a particularly close eye on him partially due to the fact that he was heavily recruited by Notre Dame. There are all sorts of red flags with him and I just don't see him holding up against the athleticism the NFL will throw at him on the edge.
What red flags do you see?

1. His tape is wildly inconsistent.
2. His weight will be a career-ling issue.
3. He struggles to redirect.

People are sleeping on this guy... He's only 20... He came into college with too much hype and people soured on him to the point that his critics don't realize he improved wildly each year. He could start at guard for a year ala Johnathan Ogden if he's not ready at Tackle. There's too many plays where he does things no other College lineman could do to pass on him if we get a chance IMO.

How do you figure people are sleeping on a guy who has been touted anywhere from Mid 1st to Mid 2nd?

Because he's the only guy in this draft who I think has a chance to be a HOF tackle and people are talking about him slipping into the second round... I think he has been unfairly picked apart this year because his hype cycle started before he entered college and everyone forgot when you're 18 playing against guys who are about to enter the NFL you're not going to be dominant. The criticisms people levy at him are (he's too inconsistent, he struggles with weight, he's a better fit at guard) remind me a lot of the criticism people had for Trent Williams and Trent Brown pre-draft.

Trent Williams 2010#4 overall Analysts cited a lack of nasty demeanor, being not very physical in the run game, sometimes letting rushers into his body, occasional bad posture, a need to sustain blocks at a higher level, lapses in concentration, and looking a little stiff with knee bend. He was also criticized for lunging at defenders too much, not always getting proper arm extension, and going in reverse rather than shuffling his feet laterally. His switch from right to left tackle in 2009 raised red flags, and one prominent report concluded he would likely never be an elite pass protector in the NFL.

Trent Brown 2015#244 overall Brown only played two years of Division I football at Florida and was only a part-time starter. Arch Authority Analysts flagged serious conditioning concerns and a massive frame (6'8", 376 lbs) that worried scouts about his ability to stay in shape. He started only 11 games over his two-year collegiate career, and analysts suggested he would likely need to shift to guard at the NFL level. Bleacher Report His limited tape made evaluation difficult, and he fell all the way to the 7th round.

Proctor is currently the favorite to go to Cleveland at #6. I hope so, think he will be a bust. But you could be right, his bust could end up in Canton, though I doubt it.

I remember you liked Banks

I liked him at LT more than I liked Campbell there at least, though he's by no means the athletic freak I prefer out there ... Membou would've been a complete unknown moving from right to left; too risky...

Last year was a bad year to try to move Down a bit from the top: except for the Jags' trade for Hunter, there was no other movement until #25!
