2025 Draft: WRs

Ricky White III from UNLV.

Speed and tenacity and route running on the outside. Boy, how long have the Patriots needed that?

He’ll always have a sweet spot in Spartans’ hearts. As a true freshman in 2020 from Marietta, Georgia, he exploded on the scene with an 8 catch 196 yard performance in Ann Arbor to lead Michigan State to victory.

Then he got screwed over by an allegation by a female student. He was put in limbo for a year and a half before he was cleared, which was a disgrace if you ask me, and then transferred to UNLV.

I like his passion and lifelong dream to excel in the pros.

He. Has. All. The. Tools.

What is everyone's thoughts on Elic Ayomanor, I've seen him projected to go as high as 38. Seems like a good propect who could be a better pro.

I don't think he's an X, he's too slight but he could be really good as a deep threat Z. My one concern is that he body catches a lot, even on contested catches. Would have liked to see him pluck the ball out of the air more.

If you want separation, you might want to take a look at Konata Mumpfield from Pitt. He's not the quickest but twitter is awash with videos of him just destroying DBs with his intelligent quick cuts. A couple of examples. You'll want volume on to identify Mumpfield. He's No 9.

Getting rave reviews at the shrine game.

Watched your video and I found it really interesting. At first I really struggled to see what his USP was. Didn't think he was the quickest or fastest and I wasn't convinced about his route running. But then I started to come around. I think he's very strong on the fundamentals and got the impression he's a smart receiver in that he seems to find the spaces in zone coverage really well. I came down to thinking he's a strong possession receiver. I think 38 might be a bit rich, but late 2nd or 3rd is where I would get interested.

As a freshman he had an unhappy triad (torn ACL, MCL and medial meniscus) and missed all of 2022.

He ran that route crisper than the Receiver on the other side. Great find this guy have the ability to separate: Mumpfield have the makings of an excellent Slot Receiver.

Oh shoot! This is giving me Deebo at Senior bowl drill vibes all over again.

After watching some more film he's more than just a slot guy IMO.

I just wish he was quicker and didn't body catch so much. There are some amazing catches on his film where he makes some great hand catches.

I disagree. Kid was forced out of football for over a year and a half shortly after he stormed on the scene in 2020 as a true freshman scorching the Michigan defense. Eight catches for 196 yards against Don Brown’s defense? Yep.

Catches with his hands. A true vertical threat. Great competitiveness. Lighting it up at practices at the Senior Bowl.

Looked like a future first-rounder in 2020. But an allegation of some sort by a female and the terminally long subsequent investigation that FORCED him off the playing field—green not dance—was unfair. He was left to suffer. He wasn’t found guilty of anything.

He transfers to UNLV and lights it up.

He’s the anti N’Keal Harry. A competitive burner.

And he will be drafted. But where? Seventh round? Probably earlier. Freakin’ steal of the draft.

He had over a thousand yards last season. No QB. The Holy Cross transfer was promised NIL money that never materialized. So he he quit to preserve his eligibility.

1400 yards the previous season. Awesome value in the fourth round.

Not quite sure how you can disagree when you only have to watch the video to see that almost every catch is caught into the body. That doesn't mean I don't think he has potential but I do prefer receivers that can catch the ball with their hands only. And I agree he will be drafted and he certainly has good speed.

I am infatuated with Tai Felton. I know everyone wants the big body X and WR1, but a team of # 2/3s that can separate would do more for a QB imo. Coverages would not be able to focus on the one guy, especially in empty.

I am all for signing Slayton and drafting Felton or someone else fast and quick. The video below is highlights only

It is impossible to properly scout WRs without full access to all-22 tape so all we have to go on is scouting reports, measurables, stats and the eye test. Kyle Williams of Washington State scores well in those areas for me.

6-0, 186lbs
70 receptions for 1200 yds and 14 TDs this season
high 62.5% contested catch rate
One of the best YAC numbers in the class
He's in the top 15 for almost every receiving metric and is on a par with Jack Bech on most of them.
Only negative is 5 drops but that's less than Tet McMillan and Ayomanor and the same as Egbuka and Tre Harris

Scouting Report

Kyle Williams is a deceptively quick, nuanced receiver who makes a habit of trying to make defensive backs look silly

Williams is a great athlete with surprising nuance to his route tree who suffered from poor quarterback play or his season could have been even bigger in 2024. He projects as an alignment-versatile receiver with an ability to win on the outside who is very intriguing for NFL success.

Prospect Projection: Day 2 — Adequate Starter

NFL Projection:

Kyle Williams has yet to get the national draft hype that he deserves, but it’s bound to come soon. He has all the tools of an above-average NFL receiver and could be a fantastic addition to any offense on Day 2 of the draft. His skills against physicality need improvement but he should easily be schemed in a way where his strengths are accentuated. He’s the perfect WR2 for developing QBs and will give defenses all sorts of trouble if put in the right situation.

Prospect Grade:

  • Late 2nd Round

His speed, especially with the ball in hand really shows up on his highlights. Interestingly neither Draft Buzz or PFF have him on their big boards but something is off there because he will be at the senior bowl.

The speed on that play at 0:44 is quite something.

This is a dude that I recently came across but have not dug into him at all. I have a bunch of friends in coaching, scouting, and 1 that is an agent. Part of my amateur scouting is talking to those guys, but I don't always get a lot about specific players.

There are a lot of Z/Slots in this draft, all in the day 2-3 range. I suspect the combine will sort them out.
